Maika Monroe’s Distressed Lace Is Made for ‘Victorian Psycho’

Maika Monroe attended the Victorian Psycho New York screening at Village East Cinema on Monday, wearing a dress that couldn’t have been more appropriate for the film’s slasher genre.

I’m sure you’ll instantly recognise this Colleen Allen Fall 2026 lace dress, because we saw the cream version on Dakota Johnson at the London premiere of Verity back in September.

With Dakota, my reaction was, “How many more sheer lace dresses are we going to see from you?” Yet here I am, looking at essentially the same dress on Maika and feeling completely differently about it.

The distressed lace feels particularly suited to a slasher film, while the black gives the design a gothic edge that the cream version didn’t have. What I appreciate most is that Maika hasn’t gone down the obvious route with the styling.

Her tousled blonde waves and soft makeup offer a welcome contrast to the dress.

It’s interesting how a change of colour and a different red carpet setting can completely alter my perspective on a dress. What felt repetitive on Dakota feels perfectly suited to Maika.
