Ana de Armas Revisits Nicolas Ghesquière’s Early Louis Vuitton
This weekend, Ana de Armas joined Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière at the Palais de l’Élysée, where he was presented with the insignia of Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur by French President Emmanuel Macron, ahead of today’s Spring/Summer 2027 show.

As a Louis Vuitton ambassador, Ana dipped into the archives once again, selecting a Louis Vuitton Spring 2015 dress for the occasion.
More than a decade later, there is something remarkably current about this design. The high neckline, structured shoulders and glossy black finish still have the futuristic quality that defined so much of Nicolas Ghesquière’s early work for the house. This could easily have appeared in a recent collection without looking out of place.
And if, like me, your first thought was that this feels like a Jennifer Connelly dress, you would be right.
Jennifer Connelly wore the same Louis Vuitton Spring 2015 design back in 2014 to the WSJ. Magazine Innovator of the Year Awards, although her version was sleeveless. She also committed to the runway styling with the metallic boots, as she always does.
Ana, as we would expect, took the less adventurous route with simple black pumps. A Louis Vuitton clutch completed her look.
The fact that this dress still feels so current 12 years later says plenty about Ghesquière’s vision for Louis Vuitton.
