‘Forgotten Island’ Celebrates Filipino Fashion on the Red Carpet

The Forgotten Island premiere was held at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles on Wednesday, with the cast celebrating a film deeply rooted in Filipino culture and mythology. That connection extended to the red carpet, where Liza Soberano, H.E.R. and Manny Jacinto all championed Filipino designers.

A Terno For Raissa

Liza Soberano, who voices Raissa, one of the film’s two leading characters, wore a custom Mark Bumgarner pink terno gown.

This was such a beautiful way to connect her red carpet look to the film. The terno, a traditional Filipino silhouette distinguished by its butterfly sleeves, brought Filipino fashion heritage into the conversation, while the pink sequins and sweeping feathered skirt gave it the fantasy you would expect from an animated premiere.

It was also perfectly suited to Liza. There is a sweetness to the pink, but this is really about presence, which the gown has in abundance, perfect for someone voicing one of the film’s leads. I have a feeling some will say this feels too prom-like, but the context is key.

Filipino Fashion Takes Centre Stage

H.E.R., who voices Jo opposite Liza’s Raissa, followed her lead in Mark Bumgarner, this time selecting a runway look.

The corseted dress, with its dramatic fringed skirt and floral appliqués, was tailored beautifully to her body. Comparing it with the runway version really shows how much difference the fit makes here. I also love that Liza and H.E.R. wore the same Filipino designer without their looks feeling remotely alike. This is the kind of storytelling through fashion that I adore.

Keeping The Story Going

Manny Jacinto continued the celebration of Filipino fashion in Randolf.

I love that this wasn’t limited to the film’s two female leads. His jacket already has so much personality with the exaggerated proportions, striped panels and red collar that keeping the rest of the look relatively simple was the right call. Even the cropped trousers play into the proportions of the jacket rather than competing with it.

Let The Backdrop Do The Talking

Jenny Slate took a different route in Brunello Cucinelli Fall 2026.

With such a colourful Forgotten Island backdrop behind her, keeping things simple in this black column dress actually worked in Jenny’s favour. I like the draped neckline, and the clean silhouette allows her to stand out against all that colour rather than compete with it. Sometimes the surroundings provide all the drama you need.
