Lisa Goes Edgier in Louis Vuitton for ‘Always Lalisa’
Lisa, aka Lalisa Manobal, attended the premiere of Always Lalisa, a documentary chronicling her life and career, during the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on Friday night.

For the occasion, she wore a custom Louis Vuitton brown velvet two-piece look, and I can’t say I’m a fan. My issue mostly comes down to the styling, as there are so many elements competing for attention.

The crop top and fishtail skirt already gave her a striking silhouette, especially with that exaggerated train, so adding the black leather belt, opera gloves and studded choker takes the look in an edgier direction. Individually, I understand each choice. Together, I think they distract from what could have been a far more interesting velvet moment.
That said, I also understand why Lisa went there. The accessories tap into her larger-than-life pop-star persona and give the look the Y2K edge that pop stars continue to reference. If there was ever an occasion to lean into that side of her image, the premiere of a documentary centred on Lisa herself was certainly it.

She makes the red carpet version work for her and for the occasion, but this isn’t one of my favourite Lisa for Louis Vuitton moments.
