Isabelle Huppert Trades Balenciaga for Brunello Cucinelli at Locarno Film Festival

Isabelle Huppert is promoting her new film Ni vue, ni connue during the 2026 Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, and her wardrobe has taken an unexpected turn.

When we think of the French actress, one label immediately comes to mind: Balenciaga. More recently, Gucci has joined the conversation as Isabelle followed Demna to his new home. But both of these looks are Demna-free – thank God, I hear some of you cry – as she turned to Brunello Cucinelli instead.

Photocall

For the photocall, she wore a Brunello Cucinelli Fall 2026 look that took her into unfamiliar territory.

Double denim isn’t her usual M.O., but it works for the more laid-back nature of a Locarno photocall. The oversized look could easily have been too much fabric on her petite frame, but she navigates the proportions well.

I also like that she didn’t try to make this feel dressier than it needed to be. The jewellery is enough.

Premiere

I expected Isabelle to perhaps switch gears with a gown for the premiere, but the mood remained much the same.

Wide-leg trousers can be tricky on someone as petite as Isabelle, yet the length here is absolutely perfect. If those trousers were even half an inch longer, the fabric would start collapsing around the hem, creating dents up the legs that would make them look far too long. Instead, they just skim the floor.

But the leather jacket is what really sells this look to me. It gives the all-black outfit the attitude it needs, while the aviators make this feel far more like Isabelle than I would have expected from her in Brunello Cucinelli.
