Madonna Celebrates Her 68th Birthday in Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda
Madonna celebrated her 68th birthday in Greece on Sunday, and naturally, this was never going to be an occasion for a simple birthday dress.

The singer chose the “Bartolomea” look from the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Taormina 2026 collection. Alta Moda is Dolce & Gabbana’s answer to Haute Couture, with one-of-a-kind and made-to-measure pieces showcasing the house’s most elaborate craftsmanship.
And elaborate certainly describes this dress.
The organza dress is covered in sequins, Baroque-inspired embroidery and three-dimensional flowers, so there was no shortage of detail. Yet for all that decoration, it feels completely at home on Madonna.
Madonna also followed the runway styling closely, adding a floral headpiece, while gold pumps and stacked bangles continued the decorative mood. Her Dolce & Gabbana Alta Gioielleria floral necklace was hardly subtle either, but with a dress like this, delicate jewellery was never going to make sense.

There is a lot happening here, but this is Madonna being Madonna while celebrating 68.
The celebrations will no doubt continue into the week, as Madonna has just picked up 11 nominations for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year. More than four decades after that Like a Virgin performance at the inaugural VMAs in 1984, she is still giving us plenty to talk about, musically and sartorially.

So between turning 68, leading this year’s VMA nominations and celebrating in Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda, Madonna is having quite the August.
Now we can look forward to what she wears to the VMAs on Sunday, 27 September. Imagine if Madonna decided to revisit one of her iconic looks for the occasion. The internet may never recover.
