Charlize Theron Gives Celine’s New 17 Bag An Early Outing
After weeks of glamour while promoting The Odyssey, Charlize Theron was back in her happy place in Seoul, wearing jeans, sneakers and a black tank top.
We know this is Charlize’s default setting when she’s off duty, and after a tour that saw her move through everything from Givenchy velvet to Louis Vuitton chains and Celine tailoring, there’s something familiar about seeing her return to the pieces she clearly feels most comfortable in. This is classic Charlize, with the baseball cap and sunglasses making it clear that the press-tour wardrobe has officially been packed away.
But the real story here is the bag.
Charlize closed out The Odyssey’s red carpet run in Celine, and her relationship with the house continues off duty as she gives us an early look at the new Celine 17 bag from Michael Rider’s Hiver 2026 collection. The collection was presented in Paris in March, with bags playing a prominent role throughout the show.

The cream leather version Charlize carried features a slim rectangular shape, accordion sides and a long shoulder strap, but it’s the gold hardware that immediately identifies it as Celine. The clasp takes the house’s Triomphe motif and gives it a more elongated, sculptural shape, making it the focal point of an otherwise clean design.
From the side, the accordion construction reminds me of the Celine Trio shoulder bag, particularly in the way the separate compartments create a layered profile. From the front, however, the 17 has a more structured shape and a stronger identity thanks to that oversized gold clasp.
And now I’m wondering: are we looking at Celine’s next It bag?
Charlize carrying it before it reaches stores certainly gives the 17 a head start. With a recognisable clasp, an unfussy shape and enough room to work as an everyday bag, this feels like one we could be seeing a lot more of.
