Poorna Jagannathan’s Sculptural Mugler Look for ‘Lanterns’ Premiere

Poorna Jagannathan, who stars in the HBO series as Zoe, attended the LA premiere of DC Studios’ Lanterns at the Paramount Theatre on Thursday.

For the premiere, Poorna wore a Mugler Fall 2026 look by Miguel Castro Freitas, and this is exactly where his vision for the house works so well, marrying the unmistakable influence of Thierry Mugler with something distinctly futuristic.

The precision of the tailoring immediately draws you in. Those extended shoulders create the commanding hourglass silhouette so closely associated with Mugler, while the long black coat exaggerates the proportions even further.

That flash of green is crucial. In all black, the tailoring would still be impressive, but the colour slicing through the centre gives the look more of an edge.

Is a full-length coat a little Fall-like for an August premiere in Los Angeles? Perhaps. But take it away and you lose the much of what makes this Mugler look so compelling. The coat had to stay. Besides, Poorna has the presence to carry those shoulders and that amount of fabric without either becoming the entire story.
