Grace Gummer Wore Issey Miyake To The 2026 Gotham Awards
Grace Gummer attended the 2026 Gotham Television Awards at Cipriani Wall Street fresh off the success of Love Story, continuing what is quietly becoming one of the more interesting red carpet runs to watch.

I do not want to wish my life away, but awards season cannot come soon enough for Grace, because she has been remarkably consistent, and by consistent, I mean consistently varied. From Bottega Veneta to Dries van Noten, Colleen Allen to Valentino, there has been no obvious formula, no repetitive styling pattern, and no single aesthetic thread tying it all together. Instead, each appearance feels driven by curiosity, fashion instinct, and a willingness to try something unexpected.
That spirit was apparent once again in this Issey Miyake Spring 2026 dress, which felt less like a conventional evening look and more like wearable sculpture. The sheer black layered tunic and skirt acted as a base for what looked like strips of fabric suspended in motion, wrapping and twisting around the body in a way that immediately brought to mind tangled branches, wind-blown ribbons, or even something caught mid-transformation. It has a slightly haunting quality, but also an elegance that keeps it from feeling overwhelming.
This also sits comfortably within the Issey Miyake world, where texture, experimentation, and shape often matter more than traditional ideas of glamour. The brand has long explored garments that feel architectural, tactile, and in conversation with movement, and this dress captures that spirit perfectly.
I actually lightened the image here because so much of the intricacy risks disappearing in darker photography. Once lifted, you can better appreciate the layered construction, the fine transparency, and the way the textured strands seem to move independently around the silhouette.
