Marion Cotillard Wore Chanel To the ‘Roma Elastica’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Photocall

Marion Cotillard was back on the Cannes Film Festival circuit promoting Roma Elastica, attending the premiere last night before returning for the photocall today in two very different Chanel looks.

If you take sheer dresses on a case-by-case basis, then this Chanel body-hugging knit gown will probably land well for you. If you are firmly anti-sheer regardless of context, wearer, or styling, then this will likely be an immediate no.

Personally, I think this worked because of the timing and setting.

There is something about a midnight Cannes premiere that allows a look like this to fully come alive. The open-knit texture, visible bodysuit construction, and trailing fringe had a sultry ease that felt entirely suited to the after-dark atmosphere of the red carpet.

Today, the Chanel ambassador switch the mood with a silver lace Fall 2026 look that felt far more rooted in the house’s heritage codes.

The intricate lace texture immediately called to mind classic Chanel tweed and embroidery techniques, but the abbreviated proportions, subtle cut-out detail, and metallic finish stopped it from veering too traditional. There was still a freshness to the styling that kept the look current.

I also have to mention the silver-and-gold pumps, because despite the mixed metals, these might genuinely be the best shoes I’ve seen from Matthieu Blazy so far, as they sharpened the modern edge of the look.
