dunhill & BAFTA Present ‘The Filmmakers Dinner’
dunhill, in partnership with BAFTA, presented The Filmmakers Dinner, an intimate celebration of British screen talent hosted at Alfred’s at Bourdon House, the home of dunhill in London this week.
Polka Dot Calling Card
Archie Madekwe will do a traditional suit, but not without personality. This dunhill suit is as classic as it comes, but his flair was seen in the polka dot pocket square. If you have been here a while, you will know the British actor has an affinity for polka dots, as showcased at the Film Independent Spirit Awards and the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
Velvet Done Properly
Just consider this my annual admiration of David Harewood in dunhill at this event. The velvet dinner jacket, crisp shirt and bow tie combination is familiar territory, but it never feels tired on him.
Chloé, But Better
I felt that Dree Hemingway’s Chloé Spring 2026 dress at the Film Independent Spirit Awards didn’t work, yet I am fully buying into Emilia Jones’ version. The fit is sharper, the proportions are cleaner, and the matching pumps seal it.
A Personal Archive Revisit
We see a lot of celebrities dipping into brand archives, but Haley Bennett dipped into her own, wearing the same Chloé Spring 2018 dress she chose for the 2018 BAFTAs. There is something admirable about standing by a look that clearly still resonates. If you initially thought this was Jennifer Lawrence, you were not alone.
Velvet With A Caveat
I am usually a fan of Henry Golding’s style, so while this dunhill burgundy velvet jacket is beautiful, the fit feels slightly snug. A touch more room would have elevated the whole look.
The Smoker Coat Standard
These dunhill smoker coats will always be endlessly elegant to me, as demonstrated by Jonah Hauer-King. The silhouette is timeless, and he carries it with ease. It is classic evening wear with enough distinction to stand apart.
Capri Conundrum
While I like Marisa Abela’s Jacquemus jacket, the capri trousers are a hard sell. In winter? Even harder. The proportions throw the look off balance, and the cropped length distracts from what could have been a sleek moment.
Best In Show
Tramell Tillman was, by far, my best dressed here. The dunhill smoker coat, the exquisite tailoring, the dual-pattern play and the confidence to carry it all. Everything is considered, and everything lands. What more do you need?
