Celebrities at the ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ LA Premiere
Kerry Washington was joined by her castmates on the red carpet for Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, attending the premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Monday evening. This franchise always inspires an interesting mix of fashion energy, and this group gave us a little bit of everything.

Rare and Radiant
Mila Kunis’ red-carpet style doesn’t always move me. I respect her dedication to minimalism, but it rarely prompts the same rush of excitement a Julianne Moore minimalist moment stirs in me. My feelings changed on this occasion. This champagne-hued strapless dress from The New Arrivals finally gave me something to get excited about. The silver embellished neckline brings a rare spark — a small but welcome flourish that breaks her usual pattern of complete simplicity. It’s clean, pretty, and, most importantly, not predictable.

Ladylike Leap
I know some of you haven’t been convinced by the Cailee Spaeny x Miu Miu partnership, but I’m confident there will be very few objections to this one. The black satin gown with embroidered lace inserts and a peplum waist feels like a grown-up step for Cailee. She looks statuesque, which is quite a feat for someone so petite.

Sharply Familiar
Does Josh O’Connor look good (again) in a Dior suit? Of course he does. But even with the slight change of a white bow tie — a switch from his Governors Awards styling — the looks are starting to blur together. I’m hoping his next outing shakes things up.

Richly Tailored
Josh Brolin wore a dunhill suit, Stuart Weitzman SW Club Classic penny loafers, and a Blancpain watch. This feels very him: rugged elegance with a quiet touch of refinement. The fall hues are selling this to me.
Styled by Ilaria Urbinati.

Neo-Victorian Drama
I’m always team playful, perplexing, OTT when it comes to Janelle Monáe, but I’m struggling with this one. The long coat, the ruffled blouse, the velvet trousers, the boots — it’s giving early-’80s romantic neo-Victorian, somewhere between Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran. Not a bad reference point, but it doesn’t quite land with her usual modern edge. Sheryl Lowe jewellery completed the look, the felt more costume than concept.
