As much as I loved Hailee Steinfeld’s Sinners press tour, I can’t say I’m on board with this Stéphane Rolland Spring 2025 Haute Couture gown. It’s not really her style and I’m not a fan of the colour. Plus the fact that those swirling pleats give the impression of a couture disguise – as if something lies beneath that we aren’t meant to see just yet. Chopard jewels completed her look.
Old School Glamour
Andra Day wore a Marmar Halim Spring 2025 Couture ball gown that had an golden age feel. Dropped waist silhouettes have been having a bit of bad PR recently, but this is an easy sell.
First Custom Alert
Eva Victor wore the first custom Loewe red carpet look by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez: a halterneck gown with a crush-pleated front panel and open back. It’s minimalist, modern, and a confident follow up to Michelle Obama’s colourful debut.
Minimal Effort
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Dries Van Noten Spring 2026 tank-style gown could have read low-effort, but the oversized earrings and subtle beadwork give it just enough interest.
Toned-Down Dilara
Dilara Findikoglu is known for her more theatrical pieces, but Isabela Merced’s hooded corset dress was the right call for this event. It brings intrigue without stepping into the designer’s grungier realm. Azza Fahmy Jewelry completed her look.
Fringe But Refined
Jayme Lawson looked sensational in a Marmar Halim Resort 2026 gown. The red pleated fringe cascaded beautifully with every step. It’s energetic without feeling theme-party literal – easily one of the best of the night.
Meh
Jurnee Smollett wore an Alberta Ferretti champagne silk gown with a floral appliqué winding across the front for a touch of romance, but not quite enough to make me fall in love. Zydo jewels completed her look.
Vintage Sparkle
Kaitlyn Dever wore a Giorgio Armani charcoal slip dress fully beaded with multi-colour crystals from the 1990s. The cut feels simple, but the craftsmanship gives it a quiet confidence.
Feeling 00s
Lili Reinhart chose a Roberto Cavalli Fall 2025 bias-cut, semi-sheer slip dress. The lagoon-green floral appliqué gives it that early-2000s sensuality. It feels like something Kate Moss would’ve worn during that period, which is exactly why it’s working for me.
Ruby Goddess
Lucy Liu was radiant in Zuhair Murad Fall 2025 red chiffon with Hanut Singh jewels. The colour does most of the work, and that’s a good thing.
Signature Queen
Queen Latifah wore Lanvin, and yes, we’ve seen versions of this silhouette from her before — but that’s the point. She knows what feels right on her body, and she leans into it with conviction.
Almost There
Rose Byrne wore a custom Calvin Klein Collection mirror-sequined empire-waist gown. I have a problem with the pockets and exaggerated ruching — I feel this dress would’ve been stronger without those two details, which only added bulk. Sabyasachi jewellery completed her look.
Silver Siren
Teyana Taylor wore a Miss Sohee Spring 2025 silver iridescent corseted column gown that hugged every curve. I love how the styling was sharp and uncluttered. No gimmicks, just sculpted precision. She wore it like armour. Chopard jewels completed her look.
Vintage Mode Still Active
Zoey Deutch is still deep in her vintage era, this time in a strapless white-and-black gown that channels mid-century couture designed by Thom Browne. I half-expected her to carry opera gloves and a martini. She commits to her aesthetic every single time — and honestly, I respect the consistency. Rahaminov Diamonds completed her look.
