Leslie Mann Wore Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture To The 2025 Academy Museum Gala
There was one more Saint Laurent look on the red carpet at the 2025 Academy Museum Gala, but it wasn’t one designed by Anthony Vaccarello.

Leslie Mann gave us a rare treat, turning to the archives for this original Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 1992 Haute Couture gown designed by the master himself.
At a time when polka dots are enjoying a red carpet renaissance, this look couldn’t feel more serendipitous. The navy ruffled tulle bodice — dotted with sheer romantic whimsy — and the contrasting ivory skirt punctuated with oversized navy spots feel delightfully retro yet timelessly chic. It’s a reminder of an era when Yves Saint Laurent celebrated femininity through joyful exaggeration, from volume to playful patterning.
Some might argue that the look would’ve been more flattering without the sleeves, but honestly, why tamper with perfection? They are part of the gown’s couture narrative — a visual echo of YSL’s love for drama and detail.
As much as I adore Leslie for unearthing this gem, part of me secretly wishes she had handed this gown down to her daughter Maude Apatow, who also attended the gala in Prada. Maude is no stranger to the archives herself, but I feel this would have been a perfect match for her style sensibilities. What do you think?
Jessica McCormack earrings and Manolo Blahnik Camparisli Mary Jane slingback pumps completed her look.
