If you were outside the Givenchy Spring 2026 venue on Friday, you would have had a clear preview of what was to come on the runway. Many celebrities arrived wearing looks that later appeared in the show.

Gothic romance done the Givenchy way

Jenna Ortega continued her gothic-romantic streak, honed during the Wednesday press tour, in a deep burgundy sheer ruffled Givenchy Spring 2026 gown. It was darkly sensual and ethereal, perfectly in tune with what has now become her signature aesthetic.

Tailoring meets attitude

Charlize Theron, on the other hand, gave us a sharp contrast — merging look 48 and 13 from the Givenchy Spring 2026 collection to deliver an ensemble where oversized tailoring met edgy embellishment. You weren’t entirely sold on similar styling when Jenna Ortega wore something similar to the Emmys, but I think this works for Charlize. She wears edge with conviction, just as she did at Dior recently.

Gothic minimalism meets delicate lace

Rooney Mara, in look 34 from the Givenchy Spring 2026 collection, stayed true to her minimalist gothic tendencies. The white lace dress felt reminiscent of her Venice look, while the black leather jacket (seen on the runway) didn’t feel entirely natural for her. It seems like one that may make more sense in a few months time.

Back in her Elphaba era

With the Wicked: For Good press tour on the horizon, Cynthia Erivo slipped back into her “Elphaba all-black” mode with a look that was pure Givenchy — a cropped jacket and sculpted corset over tailored trousers. I’m not totally convinced the corset was necessary. But that bold red Givenchy bag adds a perfect pop of colour.

A softer rebel emerges

For Hannah Redmayne, this was something of a first. Known for her romantic Valentino, Erdem, and McQueen moments filled with tulle and soft palettes, she surprised me with a tougher Givenchy Spring 2026 look. The black leather draped skirt, ivory silk blouse, and knee-high leather boots gave her a new edge, while her tousled, almost Alanis Morissette-like hair added to the nonchalant feel. It’s a welcome shift, showing us a different side of her.

Pinstripes, precision, perfection

Eddie Redmayne stayed true to form. His Givenchy ensemble—sharp pinstripe tailoring, cropped silhouette, and chunky boots—perfectly aligns with his fashion sensibilities. He remains one of the few men consistently delivering quiet but distinctive red carpet style.

No Clutch

Fan Chengcheng brought sleek modernism in a blue leather Givenchy shirt paired with relaxed navy trousers — minimalist luxury at its finest. But that frayed clutch (and the fact that it was carried upside down) slightly distracted from the otherwise refined mood. It felt random and unnecessary in an otherwise perfectly composed look.

Slightly off-balance

Gwendoline Christie’s Givenchy Spring 2026 draped maxi skirt didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The placement sits a touch too high, throwing off the proportions. It’s all legs, with little balance from the bodice, which makes the silhouette feel slightly awkward.

Power dressing distilled

Jodie Comer’s minimalist streak can sometimes lean too simple, but not this time. Her structured black leather Givenchy Fall 2025 look was pure commanding elegance — confident, sculptural, and unapologetically sleek.

Smart Styling

Joshua Hong’s white Givenchy suit, styled with a long black coat, struck the right contrast. The black shoes — which could’ve easily felt harsh — made sense thanks to the coat tying everything together.

Meh

I adore Raye, but the white underlayer beneath her mesh black Givenchy dress wasn’t working. A black or skin-tone lining would’ve been my preference here.

Red over pink

Rounan Zhang opted for look 4 from the Givenchy Spring 2026 runway, but in red rather than pink — a smart, seasonal pivot. The bold hue worked beautifully with her complexion, and I love how her red cluster earrings subtly echoed the gown’s tone.

Underwhelming

And finally, Tracee Ellis Ross — usually a front-row highlight — left me a little underwhelmed. The Givenchy Spring 2026 cropped blazer felt awkwardly proportioned, and the overall look just didn’t feel like her. It was too safe, too pared-back, lacking the joyful exuberance we’ve come to expect from her. This was underwhelming from one of fashion’s most fearless.
