Thomasin McKenzie Wore Marc Jacobs & Rodarte To ‘The Testament Of Ann Lee’ Venice Film Festival Photocall and Premiere
Thomasin McKenzie brought a wave of retro charm to Venice Film Festival on Monday as she joined co-star Lewis Pullman for the photocall and premiere of The Testament Of Ann Lee. With two very different looks, she proved that playing with vintage references doesn’t mean feeling stuck in the past — it can be fresh, fun, and perfectly festival-ready.

Photocall: Pin-Up Playfulness
Thomasin wore a Marc Jacobs dress that felt like it had stepped right out of the 1950s. The halter neckline, the cinched waist, the swishy skirt — all very “New Look” but with a cheeky feel thanks to the floral cutouts. Add in the soft retro waves and it felt less “poised festival photocall” and more “off-duty screen beauty having fun between takes.” The Roger Vivier pumps were classic, but the whole effect was young, playful, and exactly the kind of energy you want to see at a photocall.

Premiere: Golden Age Glamour
For the evening premiere, Thomasin leaned further into retro notes with a Rodarte Spring 2024 gown in black velvet and white lace. Strapless and sculpted, the design called back to the Golden Age of Hollywood — timeless, dramatic, and cinema-worthy. Where her daytime look was all lighthearted charm, this one brought elegance with a nod to silver screen legends, making for a striking one-two punch in Venice.
