Celebrities at the 2025 ESPY Awards

From Olympic gold medallists to NBA MVPs, the 2025 ESPY Awards didn’t just celebrate athletic prowess—it brought the fashion heat, too. While some leaned into elegance, others took bold swings that didn’t always land. Here’s a rundown of the stars who joined Suni Lee and Simone Biles on the red carpet.

Grunge to girlie, and not quite nailing either lane.

I’ve never been a fan of Jordan Chiles’ red carpet style, and unfortunately, this Cong Tri Spring 2025 woven mini dress isn’t converting me. On paper, it’s a beautiful piece—detailed, delicate, and made for a photo op—but it clashes with Jordan’s usual vibe. She often bounces between edgy and ultra-girlie, but this attempt lands in the latter. I’d love to see her settle into a style that embraces her strength and personality in a more authentic way.

Blue velvet in July? I’ll allow it.

While I’ve pretty much sworn off velvet for summer, Alison Brie has me rethinking that with her blue Alex Perry off-the-shoulder mini dress. The jewel tone is utterly irresistible, and the clean, sculpted silhouette is classic Alison so I’ll begrudgingly make an exception for velvet this time. EFFY Jewelry completed her look.

refreshingly original

Water polo gold medallist Ashleigh Johnson surprised me in the best way wearing an ivory quilted suit featuring a unique embroidered detailing throughout. It felt fresh, experimental, and one of the night’s most quietly commanding looks.

Less is more

Brooks Nader’s silky YSL ivory dress certainly brought the sultry factor. The plunging neckline and fluid fabric did all the talking, but the added statement earrings felt like an unnecessary punctuation mark. The dress already had enough to say on its own.

She understood the assignment. Fully.

Chiney Ogwumike left me floored in this strapless Jovani metallic pink sequinned gown adorned with floral appliqués. It was bold, vibrant, and perfectly suited for the occasion. With Sterling Forever jewel this is how you serve major energy without losing an ounce of elegance.

Beautiful, but basic

Ciara wore a beige embellished Bronx and Banco gown that felt like it came straight from the “Awards Gown 101” handbook. She looked good, no question, but considering how high her bar is, this felt like she was on autopilot.

Just add satin for instant elevation

A white suit is just a white suit—until you add a satin draped detail to elevate it, like Diana Flores did.

Fun, flirty, and feathered

Gabby Thomas embraced the playful side of fashion in a white satin PatBo asymmetrical one-sleeve dress with feather trim. She doubled down on the fun with a top handle beaded bag and strappy sandals. This was a head-to-toe moment that didn’t take itself too seriously, and it worked.

Strong, stunning, and unapologetically bold

Ilona Maher made history as the first rugby player to win an ESPY, taking home the award for Best Breakthrough Athlete. Her muscular frame is often the subject of chatter, but she embraced it unapologetically in a black, low-cut, cut-out dress that put her power on full display. I love this. Give the haters even more to talk about.

Silver déjà vu

Kristin Juszczyk wore the Wiederhoeft Spring 2025 corseted silver dress that we previously saw on Sydney Sweeney.

Slashed

Lindsey Vonn went for maximum impact in a strapless brown Elisabetta Franchi dress slashed to her obliques. Here’s hoping there was no breeze on the carpet, because one gust of wind and we a problem on our hands.

Layers upon layers of excellence

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander snagged Best Male Athlete and Best NBA Player after leading the Thunder to an NBA title—stacking MVP and Finals MVP honours along the way. And just as expected, he pulled up dressed like a winner. Shai wore a black-and-white herringbone double-breasted coat from Ferragamo’s Fall 2025 collection, layered over a matching suit. Normally, I’d side-eye this much fabric in July—but let’s be real: the coat is the moment. He finished it off with sleek black Tramezza Oxfords and Nikos Koulis studs.

Cool, clean, and classic

Anthony Ramos wore a Brioni silk steel grey evening jacket and shirt, paired with black double-pleated trousers and Santoni loafers. It was a very refined, grown-up look—elegant without being flashy.
