‘Eddington’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere: Menswear Edition
The men at the Eddington premiere on Friday evening were not about to be overlooked. Emma Stone’s co-stars—and one very committed jury member—gave us a lineup of menswear that was far from background noise. Whether it was clever tailoring, tonal mastery or a surprise shirt moment, the gents served up looks worthy of their own spotlight.

Business at the bottom, soirée at the shirt collar
Michael Ward looked very dapper in his bespoke AMI Paris tuxedo, but what elevated the look beyond standard-issue black-tie was his knotted crêpe de chine ivory shirt. It had a soft, fluid texture that played beautifully against the formality of the tux. This is the kind of styling move that separates a sharp suit from a memorable red carpet moment. Unexpected, but completely elegant.

New suit, who dis?
Joaquin Phoenix, famously loyal to his trusty Stella McCartney suit, threw us a curveball by switching things up in a classic Givenchy number. Clean lines, sharp tailoring, and zero fuss—it was still very much in his lane, just with a different label. Even the shoes stayed true to form: vegan Givenchy, because consistency is everything. I also appreciated the quiet coordination with Rooney Mara—cohesive in both aesthetic and values.

Tux sharp enough to rival His jawline
Austin Butler was, predictably, dashing in Saint Laurent. It’s becoming increasingly clear that Saint Laurent knows exactly how to dress him—sleek, structured, and cinematic. The tux was classic, with a Breitling Chronomat 32 timepiece completing his look.

Laser-cut tailoring
Pedro Pascal, usually a red carpet wildcard, opted for a Dior Men’s Fall 2025 ensemble by Kim Jones. All black, yes, but anything but boring. The laser-cut silk bar jacket had a slight edge, the layering was rich, and those Cutler and Gross Great Frog Lynott Aviator frames added the final cool stamp. Pedro manages to balance fashion-forward and timeless, and this look hit the sweet spot.

If it ain’t broke… repeat it in taupe
Jeremy Strong gave us a case of tailored déjà vu, as opted for a custom Haans Nicholas Mott this time in a muted taupe hue. At the SAG Awards, it was a striking green that really stood out, and while this version feels a little quieter, it’s still got that Mott structure that works so well on him. I have to say I prefer this in green.
