Amal Clooney Wore John Galliano To The ‘Bono: Stories of Surrender’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere
Amal Clooney made a solo appearance at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Apple TV+’s Bono: Stories of Surrender, and while I did miss her usual arm candy—George is currently on Broadway in Good Night, and Good Luck—Amal still brought her signature elegance to the red carpet.

Wearing a vintage John Galliano gown, the look leaned into understated glamour rather than the high-impact, high-colour drama we’ve seen from her in the past. But given the context—supporting her friend Bono and navigating Cannes’ new stricter rules around non-film talent—it made sense that she’d keep things a little more low-key.
That said, I wouldn’t mind a return to her bolder hues soon. She does bright red, fuchsia, and sunshine yellow so well, and I kind of miss that energy. Still, muted or not, there’s no denying how striking she looks. The silhouette, the vintage touch, the Cartier jewellery—everything came together with quiet confidence.
