Celebrities in Prada at the 2025 Met Gala

The 2025 Met Gala theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style invited its guests to dive deep into the legacy of Black dandyism—from zoot suits to barbershop chic, from Harlem Renaissance flair to contemporary swagger. Prada, never one to sit out a cultural moment, came in strong with a heavy red carpet presence. But the real question is: did their wearers align with the theme, or just enjoy the label’s popularity? Let’s break it down, one well-heeled step at a time.

Dandy with a Diploma

Hunter Schafer turned up in Prada with the poise of a philosopher about to deliver a dissertation on the art of tailoring. Her crisp suit was all business—until you clocked the white leather beret and gloves, which elevated her into sartorial scholar territory. This look served serious Continental charm, echoing the academic air of Lewis Hamilton’s co-chair ensemble, with just enough whimsy to keep it fashion-forward. If tailoring is language, Hunter was fluent and articulate.

Afro-Caribbean Dandyism with a Touch of Puerto Rican Flair

Bad Bunny delivered one of the most thematically rich Prada looks of the night. His earth-toned custom suit in shades of brown and tobacco nodded to African diasporic aesthetics—grounded, regal, and rooted. The leather gloves added a whisper of rebellion, while the Pava hat was a powerful cultural marker, honouring his Puerto Rican identity with pride. Add in the Fall 2025 Prada runway bag for a final punctuation mark on a look that was deeply intentional.

Did Gabrielle Union misses the theme by a year?

Gabrielle Union floated in looking like a dream, but unfortunately, it was last year’s dream. Her Prada black satin gown with an embroidered white train dotted in pressed petals was romantic, yes—but more Garden of Time than Superfine: Tailoring. Gorgeous? Of course. That Tiffany & Co. necklace was a stunning addition to the look.

Tailor Made Spotlight

Dwyane Wade picked up the theme and ran with it looking dashing in his custom white satin Prada tailcoat, and the embellished waistcoat was the real star—sparkling, structured, and totally on brief. This was the level of precision and sharpness I wanted from everyone wearing Prada. He nailed it, plain and simple.

Tulip in the Rough

Kelvin Harrison Jr. is usually one to watch, but this Prada double-breasted tux felt uninspired. The tulip print silk shirt and pocket square were a gentle attempt to soften the formality and inject some dandyism, but on a night dedicated to tailoring and flair, this look was too subtle to make an impact. It lacked both structure and the personality we wanted. Disappointingly forgettable.

Ascot Class Act

Louis Partridge, on the other hand, went all in. His Prada three-piece suit with a blue ascot, lilac pocket square, and black short brim hat with a lilac ribbon had all the elements of dandyism done right. Add in those white Prada boots with black wingtip detail and you’ve got a modern-day Oscar Wilde moment. Every choice was deliberate, and it paid off in full. Bravo.

An Oldie, but good

Ava DuVernay’s Prada look look leaned more old hollywood classic, and I ain’t mad at that. Allison Quaid jewels and silver pumps completed her look.

A Cape of No Conviction

Maya Hawke is normally one of the few stars who throws herself into a Met Gala theme with gusto. Sadly, her pink double satin Prada dress and phard pink chiffon cape lacked conviction this year. The cape was meant to be dramatic, but it felt more decorative than directional. The green shoes and satin clutch added colour but not clarity. I wanted more structure, more playfulness—something.

Gothic Lite

Sadie Sink’s black satin Prada gown with a Chantilly lace draped cape gave off quiet gothic energy, but making a case for tailoring or dandyism was a stretch. This look could’ve belonged to any gala or awards season. Beautiful, yes, but thematically vague.

Dasha Zhukova attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style"

Burgundy Blush

Dasha Zhukova rounded out the Prada crew in a sleek burgundy satin column gown with an embroidered shawl collar jacket, accessorised with black satin pumps and a matching clutch. This look was elegant and neatly constructed, but again, the tailoring felt secondary to the silhouette.

While stars like Hunter Schafer, Bad Bunny, and Louis Partridge fully embraced the brief, others played it too safe or wandered off theme entirely. When the theme is this rich with history, influence and visual play, there’s no excuse not to lean in.
