‘A League Of Their Own’ LA Premiere

The premiere for the new Prime Video series ‘A League of Their Own’ was held at Easton Stadium on Thursday (August 4) in Los Angeles, California. 

This is a new set of actresses to me, but the person who instantly caught my eye was Molly Ephraim because she was wearing the same Christopher John Rogers Fall 2020 dress that Zendaya wore to the 2020 Emmys.

Even though Zendaya’s picture was a grainy screengrab from a video, it was still the biggest style moment of that event.

I have no issue with Molly giving this dress a second outing, but I wish that;

1.     She had taken this picture without the clutch. The strawberry shaped skirt is so unique and a little tricky to navigate, so I feel that going handsfree would’ve made this look feel a little less cluttered.  But I think the thought process was to deliberately carry something as she weren’t sure where to place her hands with this dress.

2.     She had worn better shoes.  These platform sandals were too heavy for this look. Even though this is a Fall look.

Newly engaged couple Jodi Balfour and the ‘A League of Their Own’ creator Abbi Jacobson made their red carpet debut at this event.

Jodi wore a beautiful Celine Spring 2017 pink draped dress, but I was most intrigued about the styling, as she wore one white and one red bootie.

When you see her on the carpet by herself, it appears to be a random, trendy fashion choice, but when you see her with her fiancée Abbi, who is wearing a semi-sheer Interior Spring 2022 dress, it’s makes a little more sense as they wanted to share one thing – the colour red – while making their red carpet debut.

That’s the romantic spin I’m putting on this.

When I saw Kelly McCormack on the red carpet in this top, I wondered if Panasonic had collaborated with a fashion brand.

We’ve seen these unexpected collaborations before from Smeg x Dolce & Gabbana, Cheetos x Forever 21, IKEA x OFF WHITE and FILA x Chupa Chups, but this Panasonic top was the actual cycling jersey of a Dutch professional team.

Kelly McCormack is Canadian, so guessing this was just a vintage find, much like the rest of her ‘80s inspired outfit.

None of this makes sense.

Chanté Adams wore a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo inspired corset top with a luxe satin skirt.

This was one of my favourite looks of this event, even if I feel that the sheer gloves were totally unnecessary for this look and for a summer premiere.

D’Arcy Carden’s Tibi look is such a pretty shade of green, and I love the mini pink Jimmy Choo Bon Bon micro bag she added to the look, but the bandeau and the Italian sporty ballon skirt are really baffling combination.

I much prefer the sleeveless dress from this same Spring 2022 collection.

Gbemisola Ikumelo wore a Kutula print dress featuring a bold African print.

From the dress, to the styling, to her hair, Gbemisola totally nailed this look making her the best dressed at this event.

I don’t think this shade of beige was a great colour for Kate Berlant, but this was a fun style of dress from Vivienne Westwood.

We have another high glam black look, this time from Priscilla Delgado, but the only thing I like here is the dress, the makeup and the accessories just don’t work.
