Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

It’s been a busy week when it comes to mens fashion, so here is our roundup.

Jared Leto: The ‘Thirty Seconds to Mars’ star made a guest appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ where he donned a Gucci Cruise 2019 look consisting of a technicolor sweater and fiyah red trouser. Let’s hope that bin bag contains some of his less fortunate red carpet looks.

Channing Tatum: The actor was recently in London to present ‘Magic Mike Live’. While I’m not usually a fan of cropped trousers on men, this Arcady pair was looking very sharp, especially when paired with his palm-print shirt. Timberland shoes completed his look.

Winston Duke: The one thing I wanted ahead of the 2018 World Cup was to get my hands on the Nigerian football kit (and my heritage is Sierra Leone), but the entire collection sold out in around 3 minutes. The Trinidadian American wore his Nike tracksuit, in true naija fashion with a gold chain plus high-top sneakers.

There were many dapper gentlemen on the red carpet cutting sharp figures in sleek suits.

Ryan Gosling: The actor joined Claire Foy on Wednesday (April 25) for the ‘First Man’ presentation at CinemaCon 2018. I was struck by the different references in the look with the soft red patterned shirt and dusty blue shoes playing off the pinstripes in the suit for a cohesive but still dynamic finish.

Tom Hiddleston: Lightening things up, the actor wore a Ralph Lauren Purple Label Hadley silk linen suit for an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Tuesday (April 24) to promote ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ The light mauve jacket and trousers with pale blue shirt evokes spring with the clean lines enhancing the subtle shades. For a fresh look, I would have preferred gray shoes rather than brown boots.

Channing Tatum: Like the other gents, he elected to go without a tie when he attended ‘The Big Picture’ presentation on Tuesday (April 24) at CinemaCon 2018. Clad in Rag & Bone, he looked cool and confident. I like the idea of the different collar shape, but think he could have gotten away with something more substantial.

In our final menswear roundup of the week, we have three handsome gentlemen taking a spin on the red carpet.

Channing Tatum: Joining his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, the actor scrubbed up well in a Burberry suit for his ‘Comrade Detective’ LA premiere. As always, his stuffy tie choice takes some of the gloss off this look.

Joseph Gordon Levitt: The actor joined Channing on the red carpet, taking all the formality out of his checked suit going sans tie. Whenever I see a tie-less look, I have to remind myself that Dane DeHaan didn’t start the trend, but he does exclusive present it on the red carpet.

Armie Hammer: The actor joined a host of stars at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet wearing a steal-blue Burberry suit which were no match for his piercing blue eyes.

A few men showed their style colours recently on the red carpet. Here, a look at what they wore.

Dan Stevens: Dan was as dapper as could be in a sharp Bottega Veneta patterned suit with Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo’ shoes at the ‘Permission’ premiere at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC on Saturday (April 22), where he joined Rebecca Hall. I love the mod movement that the graphic patterning of his suit provided.

Channing Tatum: With Jenna Dewan-Tatum close by, Channing also provided his own brand of eye candy in his version of a red-hot three-piece suit at the grand opening of ‘Magic Mike Live Las Vegas’ on Friday (April 21). The colour is one thing, but I think I would have found more affection for the look had the strangely dated, confetti tie been replaced.

Ben Affleck: The actor attended the first annual AutFest International Film Festival on Sunday (April 23) in Orange, California. While the rich teal-blue hue had potential, this Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit seemed a bit forced. I blame the high silhouette of the vest and the tie that fell askance. Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo’ shoes rounded out the look.

Here, a group of handsome guys that held their own amidst the girls at a range of recent events.

Chiwetel Ejiofor: I love the textural element of the actor’s Thom Sweeney charcoal suit, which was likewise reflected in the tie, adding visual interest to the impeccably tailored offering at the British Independent Film Awards at Old Billingsgate Market in London, England on Sunday (December 6).

Luke Evans: Cutting an entirely dapper profile, Luke did Valentino proud in his slick tuxedo from the designer at ‘An Evening Honoring Valentino’ black-tie gala at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York City on Monday (December 7).

While Paris Couture Fashion Week has directed much attention to the looks of the City of Light, a few good men have captured attention outside of Paris, France.

Tom Hiddleston: The British actor was the ultimate sartorial show-off at day nine of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at Wimbledon on Wednesday (July 8) in London, England. He was at the height of handsomeness in his Ralph Lauren Purple Label three-piece navy suit perfectly paired with a light-blue striped dress shirt. A straw hat, which he also wore, only added to the laid-back yet polished charisma of the look.

Channing Tatum: Showing the slight evidence of scruff, the actor wore several shades of grey to the ‘Magic Mike XXL’ premiere in Sydney, Australia on Monday (July 6) in a Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit. While he always manages to maintain his fine profile, this ensemble fell to more lacklustre territory in comparison to some of his other promo tour looks thus far.
