Serena Williams Wore David Koma To The ‘King Richard’ LA Premiere

Serena Williams Wore David Koma To The 'King Richard' LA Premiere

Serena Williams attended the 2021 AFI Fest closing night premiere of Warner Bros. ‘King Richard’ held at TCL Chinese Theatre on Sunday (November 14) in Hollywood, California.

David Koma and tennis have always gone hand in hand.

Mostly because the designer would have possibly been a tennis player had fashion not stolen his heart.

So he expresses his love for the sport through his designs – especially his Spring 2021 collection which was presented on a tennis court – which are adored by Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova, who wore his designs pretty exclusively for many years.

Now we have Serena appreciating David Koma; appreciating the sport she has dominated for 10+ years.

I wasn’t surprised to see Serena wearing this one-legged catsuit from the designers Spring 2022 collection, because she wore a very similar design for the 2021 Australian Open back in February, when paying homage to the late Olympian Florence Griffith Joyner who made the one-legged catsuit her signature.

This is likely to be a very unpopular opinion, but this is one of my favourites looks from Serena this year.

Did she need the opera gloves?

For me, yes.  Mostly because I love the appearance of a cold-shoulder design, and as we’ve come to realise during the latter part of this year, opera gloves are here to stay, as is the trend to wear jewelry over them.

The modification of the look was the right move considering that her gorgeous daughter wore a matching look. Right down to the single bedazzled boot.

I will take this look over her LACMA Art + Film Gala Gucci look, or her Versace two-piece worn on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
