2021 CFDA Fashion Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup from the 2021 CFDA Fashion Awards that was held in New York City on Wednesday (November 10).

It’s been a hot minute since we saw Zazie Beetz on the red carpet.

The actress has beguiled us with her style whether she goes sparkly for the Oscars, shows her love for fashion in Rodarte, or looks enchanting in Valentino Haute Couture during Cannes Film Festival – my personal favourite.

On this occasion she opted to wear a look from up-and-coming designer Aurora James.

I love how this look incorporates the designer’s signature African prints, and how she selected the right accessories to complement the bodice, however, I wasn’t a fan of the boots here.

David Webb jewels completed her look.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again Emily Ratajkowski needs a total revamp of her style.

This Miu Miu Spring 2022 look was so obvious.

This would’ve been a great occasion for a fashion statement at the fashion awards. But once again she reverted to tried and true – showcasing her abs.

I will say that I admire the fact that it has taken her this long to wear a look from this collection, which was presented on October 5. Because this collection of crop top and low rise skirts appears made for her.

If she appears on a billboard as the face of this collection, it will not be a shock.

The best thing about Ashley Olsen arriving at this event without her sister is that for the first time in forever, I won’t get them mixed up.

The designer of course wore her own designs from The Row which were typically minimalistic.

There’s something suitably rock ‘n’ roll about all-black look on Cara Delevingne.

From the menswear inspired tailoring to the super-smoky eyes; and chunky black boots, this is classic Cara.

Paloma Elsesser has me wondering why knitwear doesn’t have built-in gloves?

This half-tailored, half-cosy kit Peter Do look is speaking to me more than most looks at this event.

Karlie Kloss is having a rich vein of form with her all black looks.

Yes. It’s all about the beautiful drapery when it comes to her Khaite look.

We need to take a moment to appreciate the tailoring of Anok Yai’s stunning Michael Kors Collection tuxedo. And her legs. Good damn they’re long.

Dove Cameron continued her love affair of all things Carolina Herrera wearing this frothy ruffled dress from the Resort 2022 collection.

Did this dress need that huge bow?

Yes. Dove isn’t the shy retiring type, so the more drama, the better.

It’s been a great year for Thom Browne on the red carpet.

I love that even though each look has the label’s signatures; you never feel like you are looking at the same look twice *coughs The Vampire’s Wife coughs*

What I love most about Aubrey Plaza’s look is the black animal camp toile jacquard print which adds to the uniqueness of the look.

It kinda feels like it was made for her. As this suits her personality to a tee.

Tommy Dorfman was giving us Highland glam wearing a Coach Resort 2022 dress which had an added touch of sultriness thanks to the lace inserts.

They completed their look with a sheer sock, strappy sandals combo.

What I love about menswear tailoring for women, is that the possibilities are endless.

Karrueche Tran’s Lionne cut-out tux is a glowing testament to that fact.

Dame Anna Wintour wore a custom scarlet Tom Ford guipure lace dress which was amplified with appliquéd 3D lace embroidery.

Signature shades, jewels and a gold pair of her favourite Manolo Blahnik sandals completed her look.

Carolyn Murphy wore a multi-pieced hammered satin dress, styled with a crochet bra, Pipe strappy thong sandal, and leather hoop earrings from Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2021 collection.
