Michaela Coel Wore Christopher John Rogers To The 2021 Emmy Awards

Us Brits were in uproar when Michaela Coel’s ‘I May Destroy You’ failed to receive a Golden Globes recognition earlier this year, but the wrong was put right on Sunday night (September 19) at the 2021 Emmy Awards, where she took home the Best Writing For A Limited Series Category gong.

The film is an honest portrait of her own experience with sexual assault – and its heart-breaking aftermath – and in her speech she dedicated her award to “every single survivor of sexual assault.”

If you thought Michaela’s love for colour was limited to the dramatic nature of the Met Gala red carpet, she proved her love for colour is not limited to one event by shining brightly in this neon-yellow crop top and pencil skirt from Christopher John Rogers; who we should start labelling as The King Of Colour.

Does he even make black dresses?

I’m so excited to see Michaela wearing big labels like Balenciaga and up-and-coming brands like CJRs.

It wasn’t long ago that she would attend events on the red carpet wearing looks created with love by her mother.

Le Silla pumps to match the ensemble completed her look.
