Valentino was represented at the Costume Institute Gala that celebrated the opening of the exhibition ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (September 13) in New York City with six attendees.
At some point we are going to need to put Carey Mulligan style on a higher pedestal because she has been killing it lately.
The British actress was pretty anonymous during awards season, flying way under the radar, then she floored us at the Oscars, and it looks like history is repeating itself, because she did the same things at the Met Gala.
Carey Mulligan in a bubblegum pink Valentino Haute Couture gown?
No one could’ve predicted it.
I love that, when needs be, Carey will rise to a grand occasion. The diaphanous cape really helps sell this look.
She styled her look with Cartier jewels.
You guys know how I feel about taffeta gowns, they always seem like a great idea, but often fail to live up to expectations on the red carpet, but I was very impressed by the way Normani’s Valentino Fall 2021 Haute Couture chartreuse gown held up.
After her VMAs look, this felt very refreshing.
She could’ve done another nearly-naked-barely-there-not-much-to-it look, but she opted to give us something that was romantic and alluring in just the right doses.
Whoopi Goldberg wore a Valentino Haute Couture gown especially designed for her by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli.
The colour purple was apt (no doubt a tribute to her 1985 film), as was the magnitude of the gown which was big to match her personality.
I’m going to assume that this piece was designed with a wrinkled effect.
Janet Mock looked beautiful wearing a Valentino Fall 2021 Haute Couture sequin gown.
You might have been expecting more from her in terms of drama, but I think the cape brought plenty of that to this look.
Nicola Peltz wore a pink Valentino Fall 2021 Haute Couture gown, while her fiancé Brooklyn Beckham wore a classic Valentino tuxedo
I love the intricate details of Nicola’s dress, but the pale pink leather opera gloves make no sense.
I’m guessing she was trying to add a quirk to the look considering the nature of the event, but they fell flat.
