Maria Bakalova Front Row @ Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda 2021 & Dinner Party

Maria Bakalova, who wore Dolce & Gabbana to the 2021 Independent Spirit Awards, attended the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda 2021 show and two parties held in Venice, Italy this weekend.

If you asked me what kind of gowns, I expected from celebrities perched in the front row, this would be it.

I wanted fantasy gowns, tiaras, ornate gold earrings…I wanted the FULL Alta Moda experience, and the Bulgarian actress gave it to me.

This Dolce &Gabbana Alta Moda lurex hand-painted corset gown was inspired by Louis XV Gobelins Tapestries.

Dolce & Gabbana have always drawn on culture, costume and art history for their designs, and this gown is a glowing testament.

Lori Harvey modelled this gown on the runway back in 2017 when it was presented during the designers Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Palermo show, but I’m glad Maria opted for a tiara over that towering head-piece. 

This Dolce & Gabbana pink tulle bustier dress is one of the much-loved dresses worn by celebrities over the years.

It’s a look which is on repeat, but is always a beautiful red carpet look.  

Red was red hot for a moment thanks to Emilia Clarke, Erin Doherty and Katy Perry.

This petal pink version is so enchanting, especially when styled with embellished sandals and that gorgeous necklace.

Once again, she understood the assignment.

A lace up corset dress is nothing new from Dolce & Gabbana, so I love that Maria selected a dress oozing with plenty of Sicilian flare thanks to the colourful floral appliqués.

Were the flowers in her hair and earrings OTT?

Yes, but they served the overall look and the story really well.

She was one of the few who nailed ALL her looks for me.
