The 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards) was hosted by Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday (April 18).
Carrie Underwood (who didn’t walk the red carpet) surprised us all at the 2021 Latin AMAs last week wearing a Iris van Herpen Haute Couture dress, which appears to be a one-and-done moment, because she was back to her usual princess style wearing a cream-coloured gown that had sparkling embellishments throughout.
Some of you might be disappointed that she reverted back to type, but I think we all knew deep down it was likely to be a one off moment.
Maren Morris wore a rose-gold LBV halter dress which felt glamorous in the moment for its shimmering fabrication, plunging neckline and draped detailing.
Everything from the waist down is endlessly flattering.
I haven’t been too enamored by Maren’s style lately, but this was a return to great form from her.
Dolce & Gabbana’s contemporary vision of femininity – one that is both sophisticated and sultry – is fully realised through this strapless gown worn by Kelsea Ballerini.
I adore the emerald green hue, and the elegance imbued via the structured bodice and draped waist, but her hair almost turns me off this look entirely.
Tenille Arts also wore a custom Dolce & Gabbana creation.
Her bronze chiffon gown beautifully marries the unwavering allure of traditional Grecian silhouette with modern details such as the asymmetrical sleeve and bronze chains.
Some might feel that the chains took this into try-hard territory, but I love how they updated this classic style.
David Yurman jewels and Stuart Weitzman ‘Aleena’ sandals completed her look.
Ingrid Andress was one of our favourites from the 2021 Grammys, so I am shocked by this latest look from Stella McCartney.
It’s not the fact that she’s not wearing a gown – she clearly proved that tailoring is her thing – but the silver crop top really needed a pair of scissors taken to the floor-length fringing.
Save that top for Coachella.
This is a shame because everything from the waist down was working for me.
Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman wore a Carolina Herrera Fall 2021 shimmering navy blue and green dress accented with pink ruffles which on one hand are inexplicable, but on the other prevent this from being a ho-hum sequin dress.
I kinda thought over the knee boots were no longer a thing, but Karen Fairchild gave them new life on this red carpet styling her Casadei ‘Blade’ grey boots, with her platinum metallic Stella McCartney Resort 2021 dress.
This is just a confusing look overall. The pieces don’t complement each other at all.
Mickey Guyton looked beautiful co-hosting this event wearing beaded Naeem Khan dress styled with Stuart Weitzman ‘Anny’ pumps.
Carly Pearce stood out in this matchy moment wearing a beautiful fuchsia Monique Lhuillier Spring 2021 gown.
Elle King and Miranda Lambert both wore custom Dulce Bestia looks which they performed it.
In terms of being traditional country costumes, the designer nailed it.
That’s about all I am willing to say about this.
