Who Was Your Best Dressed Of The Decade?

As the decade draws to a close, this is the right time to ask you vote for you Best Dressed Of The Decade.

I had my top 5 before even looking back over the last 10 years. But to make things a bit easier for you, I have linked the Best Dressed lists from 2010, and 2018, with 2016 missing – as that was the year I was on hiatus. But if you are looking for a top look from 2016, I would highly suggest Michelle Obama in Atelier Versace.

In the box below, please add the name of the celebrity, the designer they were wearing, and the event they wore it to, if you know.

The result will be announced on 31 December.

Sorry. This form is no longer accepting new submissions.

I can’t wait to see this list! For me it was definitely Karolina Kurkova at the Met Gala!

  2. Guest December 16, 2019 at 9:30 pm #

Fan Bingbing as the most consistent, I don’t mind her often questionable shoes choice, she is the best dressed woman of the decade.

  3. Guest December 16, 2019 at 7:49 pm #

Voted for N. ALVAREZ in S. Rolland but Cate Blanchette is really the redcarpet queen

  4. Guest December 16, 2019 at 5:34 pm #

There are so many Aishwarya looks!!! After looking back, there could also be an award for most consistent(ly flawless) of the decade!

  5. Guest December 16, 2019 at 5:07 pm #

Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa at the 2014 Met Ball. Absolutely exquisite look that I will remember forever. I hope that gown ends up in a museum someday.

Cate Blanchett in the gorgeous burgundy & gold Lacroix dress would be my silver medalist for the decade.

  6. Guest December 16, 2019 at 5:00 pm #

    Mannnn…
She was totally unpredictable, It’s no doubt Aishwarya Rai in Michael Cinco at Cannes 2017.

  7. Guest December 16, 2019 at 4:38 pm #

This is so fun! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this all together for us! You’re the BEST!!!

  8. Guest December 16, 2019 at 4:11 pm #

This makes me emotional. Red carpet dressing used to be spectacular. These days the street looks can be strong but I have rarely been wow-ed by red carpet moments over the past two years.

    This is so tricky!

  9. Guest December 16, 2019 at 4:10 pm #

    Aishwarya Rai.

  10. Guest December 16, 2019 at 3:50 pm #

For me it’s gotta be Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa at the 2014 MET Gala. Truly just a draw-jopping vision of elegance and beauty. This architectural gown is probably the best thing Marchesa has designed and it fit perfectly with the theme of the night. Plus her poise and presence carries it off marvelously.

  11. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:54 pm #

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture – 2011 Oscars

  12. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:52 pm #

All these ladies looked stunning in these gowns but I distinctly remember Aishwarya in the Michael Cinco as one of the best fashion moments I’ve witnessed in a long time! She takes the win for me!

  13. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:44 pm #

    Aishwarya in Michael Cinco ?

  14. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:24 pm #

Nieves Alvarez in Stéphane Rolland Couture – Goya Awards 2013

    Elegance in its purest form!!

  15. Guest December 16, 2019 at 1:45 pm #

2016 is sadly missing 🙁 I wish we could’ve seen your list, Catherine.
Some great looks from 2016 for me were: Sonam Kapoor in Ralph and Russo Couture ( From The Land of The Moon premiere Cannes), Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive Oscars, more from Cannes – Charlize Theron in Dior suit looked impossibly chic and commanding, and some major looks from MET Gala – Claire Danes in her illuminating Zac Posen gown and Zoe Saldana in Dolce and Gabbana….some others, can’t remember all..
Now, remembering all these looks I may have to revise my best of the decade list 🙂

    • Kat December 17, 2019 at 9:50 am #

Great call Nat. Three 2016 looks are in my best 10 of the decade:

      • Cate’s Armani Prive @ Oscars
      • Claire Danes’ illuminated Zac Posen @ MET Gala
      • Michelle Obama’s gold Versace for her last (sob) State dinner as FLOTUS
    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 30, 2019 at 8:56 pm #

it would’ve been Michelle Obama at the top for sure x

  16. MissHebble December 16, 2019 at 1:34 pm #

Ahhhh man! Catherine Imma need to clear my schedule! ? Thank you for your incredible work – RCFA is such a big part of my day and a constant source of education for the less fashion forward amongst us (me!) Have a wonderful Christmas break ??? xx

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 30, 2019 at 8:50 pm #

      Thank you

I hope you are enjoying your Xmas break too

  17. Sharon M December 16, 2019 at 12:59 pm #

My vote is for Lea Seydoux in that yellow dress. There are many more eye catching looks, but she was perfection.

  18. Guest December 16, 2019 at 12:16 pm #

I’ve never been happier being home with the flu… 🙂 Looking through all the Best dressed-lists I have to say 2015 was a really great year. It’s going to be very difficult picking just one favourite of the decade, but I think I’ll go with Cate Blanchett at the 2011 Oscars, I still think this dress is so original, majestic and beautiful.

  19. Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:36 am #

My favourite for best dressed person of the decade is Cate Blanchett. Its the combination of brave choices, consistency, perfect attention to details and personal charisma that does it for me. I just love her.

  20. Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:35 am #

    For me it’s Cate Blanchett.

I’m not voting a particular look of hers, I’m voting her consistence. Some others have had one good look, then an avalanche of misses. Whereas she’s remained at the top of her game almost every year. 🙂

  21. Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:13 am #

What an amazing idea, thanks Catherine! Love the chance to go back to my old Pinterest boards and revisit some truly stunning looks.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 30, 2019 at 8:59 pm #

Great way to end the decade x

  22. Guest December 16, 2019 at 10:26 am #

    Aishwarya rai bachchan

  23. Guest December 16, 2019 at 10:11 am #

Undoubtedly, The most beautiful women in the world,
    Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s
Dresses from last 3 years for which she won the best dressed award

  24. Guest December 16, 2019 at 9:56 am #

Part of me is thinking of Lady Gaga’s meat dress just for the iconic talking point of it.

  25. chrysschryss December 16, 2019 at 8:53 am #

Cate Blanchett in Lacroix is my Best Dressed ever look!Otherwordly and like no one else. A look that stands in time no matter what.

    • chrysschryss December 16, 2019 at 9:00 am #

I mean that look never left my mind and I am easily distracted. Also lots of love to the team of Redcarpet fashion awards for the past and the years to come!

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 30, 2019 at 8:48 pm #

      Thank you x

  26. Guest December 16, 2019 at 8:40 am #

Instant #1 even without thinking – Nieves Alvarez in Stéphane Rolland Couture – Goya Awards 2013.

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 9:58 am #

I have to say, I enjoy looking through some really great looks over the years…(just confirms, unfortunately, how weak this year really was)
#2 to 6 – more of my instant strongest/very faves:
2.Zoe Saldana in Armani Privé – 2011 Cannes Film Festival “The Tree Of Life” Premiere
3.Karolina Kurkova in golden Rachel Zoe – 2012 Met Gala
      4. Fan Bingbing In Ralph & Russo Couture – ‘La Tete Haute’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere & Opening Ceremony
      5. Celine Dion In Stéphane Rolland Couture – 2017 Billboard Music Awards
      6. Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive – Chopard party (Cannes 2014)

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 10:31 am #

7 to 11..had to think, the competition is huge – Cate Blanchett had more iconic moments than 1, and then, of course, also some gorgeous looks from Diane Kruger, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, etc..
7.Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa – 2014 Met Gala
8/8.Lily Aldridge in Rosie Assoulin – 2014 amfAR New York Gala and Sonam Kapoor in a custom Ralph&Russo Couture – From The Land of The Moon premiere Cannes 2016 (this was such an outstanding breath-taking look which came in 2016 when the site wasn’t running, unfortunately, it can go higher on the list)
9.Aishwarya Rai Bachchan In Michael Cinco Couture – ‘Okja’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere
10.Zendaya Coleman In Moschino – ‘The Greatest Showman’ Sydney Premiere
11.Angelina Jolie in Ralph & Russo Couture – ‘World War Z’ Berlin Premiere
And the Best of Photocalls to Naomie Harris in Altuzarra – ‘Spectre’ Moscow Photocall. It was such a fab, vibrant and sexy look.

    • Guest December 17, 2019 at 12:42 pm #

Ok, I’m sure I’ll still be making more changes and rearranging lol but for now I’m gonna have to add Charlize Theron in Dior tux from Cannes 2016 somewhere around here, maybe #7 for now (the rest moving down the list), she was just too cool. I may have to take my list to top 15 minimum 🙂

  27. Guest December 16, 2019 at 8:39 am #

Aishwarya rai bachchan…that 2017 Michael cinco gown is iconic…will be forever remembered…

  28. Guest December 16, 2019 at 8:38 am #

Lupita Ny’ongo in Atelier Versace for The Black Panther Premiere and Celine Dion in her white masterpiece dress but I keep forgetting the designer’s name. As for men, Chadwick Bosman for the Met gala as he looked like a swaggalicious Pope ! And most his looks for the BP promo tour deserve an award as well

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:02 am #

Celine Dion in Stephane Rolland for the white gown with the big architectural shoulder design?

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:07 am #

      Yes! Thank you so much!??

  29. CharlotteLG December 16, 2019 at 8:22 am #

    This is so hard!
I think I’ll go with Jennifer Connelly in 2014, I love this dress.

  30. Guest December 16, 2019 at 7:43 am #

    Impossible!
Let’s give a joint award to Aishwarya, Diane Kruger, Cate Blanchett, and Fan Bing Bing and call it a day/decade.

And a big one to Catherine Kallon for being *the* fashion critic of the decade. I don’t know how you do it so well, so consistently! Thank you. 🙂

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 16, 2019 at 8:59 am #

thank you. It hasn’t been easy but the support you guys have giving me keeps me going xxx

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 9:16 am #

And I hope you keep on keeping on. <3

  31. Guest December 16, 2019 at 6:55 am #

There were a lot of beautiful, flawless looks in ten years! I went for Michelle Obama in Atelier Versace which is a good reminder from RCFA. To me, the look of the decade has to be more than just a pretty dress, I want it to carry a symbolic meaning. To quote Vogue, Obama’s dress was “the ultimate first lady mic drop” and I cannot agree more.

  32. Guest December 16, 2019 at 6:05 am #

Oh my god I don’t even know where to begin with this I absolutely love Cate Blanchetts looks over the years but then there’s also Aishwarya Rai but then Kate Middleton as well and Lady Gaga and what about Fan Bing Bing or Blake Lively

I mean we’re talking a DECADE worth of looks

going to pull my hair out starting in 3….2….1…..

  33. Guest December 16, 2019 at 5:51 am #

Though some of my favourites may not be there but i still salute for even coming up with this list. Am having a hard time choosing so i can imagine the difficulty in coming up with the above!

P.S : Don’t you think sonam kapoor’s blue outfit looks a little out of place. I much preferred her dolce gabbana or her black elie saab dress

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 16, 2019 at 9:01 am #

Yes. The Dolce was better. I ran out of space and wanted to make sure she was included

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:05 am #

Sonam had a number of great looks…this is just a reference.
My personal fave from her (and in my opinion her strongest look) was her custom white Ralph and Russo gown at the From The Land of The Moon (Mal De Pierres) premiere Cannes 2016. She was outstanding.

  34. Guest December 16, 2019 at 5:49 am #

I voted for Kate Middleton at her wedding cause not only she looked absolutely amazing but also that look will live in time forever so I think she definitely deserves Best Dress of the Decade

  35. Guest December 16, 2019 at 3:15 am #

Nieves Alvarez in Stephane Rolland at the Goya Awards.

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 8:48 am #

Undeniably, I didn’t even have to think. A stunning creative couture piece delivered gloriously by pro Nieves – she was a majestic work of art.

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 11:00 am #

What you said, word for word.

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:53 pm #

Very easy decision for me. This look blew me away and continues to do so. Nothing else comes close and there have been some great looks this past decade, for example the 2015 critic’s list is pretty amazing.

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 3:23 pm #

This look had everything – the memorable drama and creativity of design, art and elegance, and, of course, Nieves herself owning it and sealing the deal in a spectacular manner. I thought Karolina Kurkova in gold Rachel Zoe at 2012 MET gala was also spectacular and awe-inspiring and very high impact and strong in effect, but still didn’t surpass Nieves.

  36. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:42 am #

This will be quite tricky to decide, but in all honesty, Aishwarya completely blew me away in her Michael Cinco gown at Cannes. No one has topped that for me so I’ll have to go with her.

  37. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:32 am #

Aishwarya in the blue Michael Cinco Cinderella dress wins for me.

  38. Guest December 16, 2019 at 2:18 am #

I just want to say a very big Thank You to FC/Catherine, coz this is one of my fave blogs!

I only started to leave comments since last year, but I’ve been following you pretty much when it was created(you know, when there’s a pair Louboutin on top of the page). This has been quite a journey, but it feels just like yesterday to me. I remembered it vividly when I first came to the UK 12 years ago, and I discovered this blog and sooo hooked up by it since then:)
And the year you decided not to continue on updating made me kinda sad, as if it’s an end of era to me.

Your perspectives in diversities had also been inspirational to me, especially when I was doing my uni n intercultural studies. I gradually appreciate and love the aesthetics from different cultures even more thanks to you.

Such a tremendous work! I am looking forward to another wonderful decade with you in the future!

    THANK YOU, sincerely. xxx

    Han(that’s my name!)

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 30, 2019 at 8:55 pm #

Hey Han, thanks so much for your support. There are many fashion blogs out there. I am so glad you enjoy mine.

I’m also happy that you have started to comment, even if it has taken you so many years LOL x

You’re more than welcome:) Happy New Year to you FC!

Nicole Kidman in Blue Armani Privé at Oscar 2018

    • Guest December 16, 2019 at 8:21 am #

      I voted the same!

  41. Guest December 16, 2019 at 12:34 am #

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Couture – 2010 Oscars. All time fave!

  42. Guest December 15, 2019 at 11:00 pm #

This is sooo hard! I’m still trying to decide.
So far, my vote will be among these looks:
*Cate Blanchette in Givenchy at 2011 Oscar.
*Fan Bing Bing’s dragon robe inspired gown at Cannes.
*Zoe Saldana in Givenchy at 2010 Oscar.

  43. Guest December 15, 2019 at 10:46 pm #

  48. Guest December 15, 2019 at 8:11 pm #

For me, Cate Blanchett in Venice at the A Star Is Born premiere is the epitome of luxury. In general, Armani Prive’ is are the most beautiful dresses

  49. Guest December 15, 2019 at 8:01 pm #

This is such an interesting exercise! Seeing how looks we loved have stood the test of time.

For me Karolina Kurkova at the 2014 Met Gala is an enduring and pivotal moment. Every celebrity stepped up their Met Gala game after her jaw dropping moment.

Thank you Catherine for a decade of hard work and inspiration.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 15, 2019 at 9:22 pm #

My pleasure. What a ride x

  50. Guest December 15, 2019 at 8:00 pm #

Is this a vote for individual outfits or overall best?

Cate Blanchett definitely wins the latter as she’s been consistently amazing over the last 10 years but others have more one off “wow” moments.

    • Red Carpet Fashion Awards December 15, 2019 at 9:22 pm #

      Individual outfits x
