Gong Li In Elie Saab Haute Couture – ‘Lan Xin Da Ju Yuan’ Venice Film Festival Premiere

Gong Li was at the ‘Lan Xin Da Ju Yuan’ Venice Film Festival premiere on Wednesday (September 4) in Italy.

I can certainly appreciate that the Chinese actress nodded to a cultural theme with her satin dress — looking to the East Asian-inspired Elie Saab Fall 2019 Couture collection for inspiration.

But, that was also precisely what turned me off the enveloping kimono-inspired look. It just didn’t have quite the same mystique as seen on the runway.

In fact, dare I say it seemed a bit dated here, when styled with the peep-toe platform shoes and drop earrings. What do you make of it?
