Tracee Ellis Ross In Valentino Haute Couture – 2018 Emmy Awards

Tracee Ellis Ross In Valentino Haute Couture - 2018 Emmy Awards

When Tracee Ellis Ross steps out on a red carpet, she often brings the drama. She didn’t disappoint at the 2018 Emmy Awards this evening (September 17).

The Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series nominee turned heads in a Valentino Fall 2018 Haute Couture dress. Even without the floral headpiece it’s a tricky look, but she managed to pull off the voluminous style — neon makeup and all.

My wish is that she didn’t have to pose holding the neckline up. The outfit should stand on its own.

I’m curious to know how this will be received.

This is extremely awful. She would look good in another pink dress by Alexander McQueen F/W 2018-19

I think no one else would have sold me this look. But she does.

Anybody who trashed Condola Rashad’s incredible Herrera look better not say they love this. I don’t mind the tissue satin fabric, but this is a mess regardless.

    Bulky, cheap and blanket-y.

I know Tracee favors to go for avant-garde looks and it usually works but not this time, unfortunately. This dress wasn’t meant for a red carpet and not even Tracee can sell it to me.

LOVE this so much! Such a bold look, and it’s working for me. A perfect look for Tracee. She’s probably one of the only persons who could make this work on a red carpet.

+2 the makeup is perfect too!

    • TeaAtTwo September 18, 2018 at 9:29 am #

+3 I love that brought theatre without it being a farcical comedy.

I would have skipped the matching eye make up.

I respect your chutzpah, Tracee, I really do, but I’m not sold on this at all.

Well if anyone could give this a shot, it’s Tracee but I still don’t like it, the colour is fab but that material is awful

  15. CreoleLady September 18, 2018 at 1:49 am #

The color is fabulous. The design isn’t. Even so, she almost pulls it off. But as you say, the design should stand on its own. This Valentino is not worthy of its wearer, who is more than capable of pulling off tricky and dramatic.

Sadly this just looks like a wrinkled mess of fabric.
