‘Black Panther’ World Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

The highly anticipated world premiere of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ was on Monday (January 29) in Hollywood, California, which drew a veritable constellation of actresses to support the film’s stars Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Nabiyah Be.

Sydelle Noel: The actress opted for a golden goddess look in this shimmering Marc Bouwer gown, by which the cutouts made it a sleekly modern interpretation. The gold dress was one thing, but she channeled Vanessa Bell in ‘Coming To America’ even more so with her Imani-approved high ponytail hair.

Chloe Bennett: The high-shine aesthetic continued with Chloe’s Elisabetta Franchi Fall 2017 embellished gown, which wasn’t anything we haven’t seen. Yet, I like that she let the gown have its time in the spotlight by keeping her accessories -which included Neil J. Rodgers ‘Stella’ shoes and Monica Vinader jewels – to a minimum.

Cobie Smulders: Also getting the glitz memo, Cobie glittered in a Markarian Pre-Fall 2018 grock that offered a fresher silhouette by virtue of its sharp lines and side slit. The minimalistic styling – Jimmy Choo ‘Ellipse’ clutch and ‘Minny’ sandals – also served her quite well here, as the dress was the main attraction.

Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey: As per usual, the teen sisters coordinated their looks in these hyper-embellished creations, with Chloe in a hybrid On Aura Tout Vu catsuit-gown and Halle in a hybrid sculpture-dress also by On Aura Tout Vu, was styled with Dena Kemp jewels. I like how they fully committed to the looks from head to toe, finishing them with the dramatic shoes—although I think Chloe especially looked far beyond her 19 years, something I will party attribute to her beautiful, yet more mature, African-inspired braided ’do.

Olivia Holt: I like the more subversive, carefree edge that Olivia brought to this Alice McCall Spring 2018 ruffled, metallic dress with the Pedro Garcia booties and minimal beauty look.

Marsai Martin: The young ‘Black-ish’ starlet was every bit of sweet and chic in this girlish Maje frock that I loved for its textural blue effect and flared skirt.

Angel Parker: This beaded, multicolour Jovani gown, together with Angel’s long braid, was a glam tribute to African heritage inspiration that many others likewise reference at the premiere.

Storm Reid: Even though this sleek look could be deemed a bit serious for the 14-year-old starlet, the cropped top and fringed detail throughout added a youthful zing as did her colourful eye makeup. I love her sculpted updo, which was such a striking way to style her long braids.
