Aishwarya Rai Bachchan In Malan Breton – Vogue Women of The Year Awards

Posted by Catherine Kallon

All eyes were undoubtedly on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she glided gown the red carpet for the Vogue Women of the Year Awards held in Mumbai on Sunday (September 24), where she picked up the Vogue Influencer of the Decade Award.

Mrs Bachchan never misses an opportunity to go big, so I love that she served up plenty of high drama wearing a sheer embellished and feather festooned Malan Breton Fall 2017 gown.

The runway faux bob wouldn’t been divine here, however, Aishwarya tends to favour wearing hair down, so I’m not surprised or disappointed on this occasion.

The one thing I love about Aishwarya is that she never rests on her laurels. We all know that she can wear a sack and still look gorgeous, so I fully appreciate her desire to always deliver on the red carpet.

Renu Oberoi jewels completed her look.

Oh dear. I must admit here that I’ve never been the biggest fan of her style, and I actually hated that light-blue giant gown she wore at Cannes that everyone loved. I believe she always tends to just go a step too far and make the whole look fall down the cliff.
This is completely overcooked, hair and make-up are a nightmare.
I don’t know if I can even bring myself to give her points for effort. This just seems zero thought-out.

The hair is ruining it for me. The dress is already dramatic. Pull the hair up. Let the dress breathe!

    1. hair up would have been better
    2. the deep neckline gives the visual relief in the original design – here, closed up it makes the look heavier that it is. I understand she might have cultural reservations, but this is fashion and it was Vogue.
    3. the look was overall too heavy for her – somehow black does not seem to do magic on her.
    4. can we please see some change in her looks? less princess (even Maleficent was one), more directional?

I do love her, but he is just churning out a different version of the same look. Maybe it is time to get a new stylist in life, even though this was styled by Vogue India’s own.

she is practically drowning in a huge pile of black fabric…

Way too much fabric and frou frou. It looks very costumey, like shes dressing for halloween. The hair down doesnt help of course.

in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland the Dormouse asks Alice “That begins with an M, such as… muchness – you know you say things are ‘much of a muchness’ – did you ever see… a drawing of a muchness?” …
If I were Alice I’d say: “Yes Sir, of course, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!!”
