Menswear Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

The weekend was none too short on solid menswear looks from actors who took to the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada.

Tom Hiddleston: Three was his lucky number this past weekend, as the handsome British actor attended a trio of events including the ‘I Saw The Light’ Cast Party at F-Stop on Friday (September 11) followed by EW’s Must List Party at the Thompson Hotel on Saturday and finally the ‘High Rise’ premiere at The Elgin on Sunday. In a totally handsome three-peat, he exclusively wore suits by Polo Ralph Lauren to mighty fine effect. I love how each of his looks were consistently sharp and well-tailored while being different enough to avoid boredom. I thought the three-piece navy pinstripe suit with the lavender shirt was my favourite, but now that double-breasted, windowpane suit matched with a piercing baby-blue shirt is calling my name, too.

Tom Hardy: Tom’s Thom Sweeney blue Prince of Wales check three-piece suit was slightly less successful at the ‘Legend’ premiere at Roy Thomson Hall on Saturday (September 12). The look translated as a bit dated and cumbersome, but he’s still owning it—slick, wet hair (due to the rain) and all.

Eddie Redmayne: This was a very rare occasion in which I’m not head over heels for Eddie’s latest ensemble. His Ralph Lauren Purple Label cream linen, double-breasted suit at the premiere of ‘The Danish Girl’ on Saturday (September 12) was an interesting new look for him, but it still seemed rather dreary for this hot young stud who can rock a vibrant print like no one’s business.

Nicholas Hoult: On Sunday (September 13), the actor attended the ‘Equals’ premiere in Burberry tailoring, keeping his slate-blue suit solidly straightforward but still striking thanks to the crisp white dress shirt and black tie.

Jake Gyllenhaal: For the Toronto Film Festival opening night gala, he kept his suit on rather standard turf in a head-to-toe Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble that could have just as easily been seen at a business meeting rather than on the red carpet.

Jack Kilmer: Putting a touch of rocker-boy into his ‘Len & Company’ photocall look on Friday (September 11), the actor wore a midnight-navy Saint Laurent skinny suit styled with a black shirt.

Paul Dano: Paul suited up in Prada at the ‘Youth’ special presentation, held on Saturday (September 12), where the brown tweedy jacket and trousers read frumpy but the sky-blue dress shirt underneath was promising.
