Valentino ‘Mirabilia Romae’ Fall 2015 Couture Front Row

Valentino 'Mirabilia Romae' Fall 2015 Couture Front Row

Valentino held their ‘Mirabilia Romae’ Fall 2015 Haute Couture show at Piazza Mignanelli on Thursday (July 9) in Rome, Italy.

This appeared to be a very fancy affair, as all the attendees were decked out in full-length gowns.

Gwyneth Paltrow: It’s great to see Gwyneth step outside that fitted-mini-dress box she’s so comfortable in, but this Valentino Fall 2015 shapeless sack of a dress doesn’t do it for me. The only thing I love is the colour, as she’s tends to stick to black or white.

Tilda Swinton: As you know I am a huge fan of Tilda’s style, yet I couldn’t get behind this Valentino Fall 2015 white gown. I don’t find it particularly flattering and I couldn’t get the image of a priests robe out of my mind.

Olivia Palermo: Usually Olivia’s street style trumps her red carpet style, but on this occasion she blew me away in this Fall 2015 tulle gown. Oozing elegance, grace and charm; this look was easily my favourite from the event.

Alba Rohrwacher: Keeping to her no-fuss style, the Italian actress wore a black strapless Valentino gown featuring the signature wrap around leather belt from the Fall 2014 Couture collection

Olivia wins for me, she owns that dress, but I would have loved to see it worn by Florence or Cate.

Catherine, I would love you to consider including Sofía Sánchez Barrenechea in some of your posts. I really like her quirky sense of style!

Not generally a Tilda Swinton fan, but how I wish she had worn this dress with the volume it had on the model–then it might have been a real winner.

Olivia looks lovely. the whole black bride thing is working

I like Gwyneth. She’s the only one who’s dressed season-appropiate. She looks comfortable, sexy and classy.

It’s black, it’s tulle and yet I can’t take my eyes off Olivia, she is mesmerizing in this gown.

One of Olivia’s best red carpets looks.

GP looks like she’s wearing a deflated parachute and as usual she has gotten a bit too old for the long, played out middle part. Tilda looks like the Pope. Olivia looks magnificent.

Olivia looks regal. Don’t care for the others.

Olivia looks intriguing. I like its drama. Alba looks fine.
The other two dresses are just hideous.

Blown away by Olivia’s gothic bride look! BDOTW-worthy!

    I love Olivia’s dramatic look!
Gwyneth’ look could have been good if it wasn’t so awfully shapeless.
Tilda generally looks good, but I agree that it really looks weirldy like a priests robe or something like that.

Gwyneth is my favorite of the bunch. I think she looks fantastic despite the repetitive hair and shapelessness of the dress.
As for Tilda, oh my, where did that stiff and priest-like-outfit of a dress come from? The runway version – which I LOVE by the way – is alll about fluidness and is totally lost on the red carpet translation.
Even though I hate tule I have to admit that Olivia looks great. Alba looks kinda meh imo.

      +1 🙂

Love Olivia’s dramatic gown, she totally pulls the whole look off.

i will keep Olivia’s look in mind when its time to vote for BDOTY!

The priest comparison is spot on for Tilda lol.

The shape of Gwyneth’s gown would actually work if it was a mini dress. The full length makes it beyond repair.

There is no competition for Tilda??Let’s not jump to any conclusion just yet, because you haven’t seen any of those Asian celebrities.
Chinese actresses Shu Qi, Carina Lau, Japanese actress Rie Miyazawa and Korean singer Bae Sue Ji all dressed up for the occasion, and I could honestly say they looked far more polished and glamorous than Gwyneth here.
Olivia surprised me with this tulle gown, kudos to her.

Unfortunately their pictures are not on Getty

      • charlotte July 10, 2015 at 11:40 am #

        yes,what a pity…
Catherine,I hope you were not offended by my previous comment.I wasn’t complaining or anything, just sharing a thought.
you are doing a wonderful job covering these events,I could’t thank you enough.

        • H July 10, 2015 at 2:41 pm #

Catherine is one of the few actually feautiring Asians stars so I am sure she supports your comment and would’ve love to feature them since is not rare to see Carina Lau or Shu Qi here.

        • Catherine Kallon July 10, 2015 at 6:16 pm #

Charlotte, no, I was not offended at all. I’m surprised Getty didn’t feature them

          • bfly July 11, 2015 at 2:22 am #

It seems like Getty hasn’t done a great job of covering couture week this time, IMO.

    • kane July 10, 2015 at 11:29 am #

I think I’d actually like the first row if those dresses weren’t so very shapeless.

Tulle is tricky but Olivia looks regal. She owns it.

      • kane July 10, 2015 at 11:31 am #

Did I reply Charlotte? Apologies if I did. My phone’s a bit eccentric like that, sigh.

        • charlotte July 10, 2015 at 11:36 am #

          No need to apologize,dear.
I very much enjoyed your opinion.

    • Theresa July 10, 2015 at 3:35 pm #

Do you know or have a link to where I can see the other actresses? I’d love to see what they were wearing too!

  18. Christine July 10, 2015 at 10:38 am #

Olivia looks good in that dress! She finally gets it right at PFW

  19. Fiona-Brasil July 10, 2015 at 10:29 am #

Olivia looks great! The others no, just no!

  20. Gowri July 10, 2015 at 9:50 am #
