Michelle Dockery In Prada - 2013 Emmy Awards

Michelle Dockery captivated on the red carpet for tonight’s 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress captured my attention in a ravishing, two-tone Prada gown in ruby-red duchesse satin and burgundy silk radzmire.

The halter-style, low-back bustier top was fashionably fastened at the back of the neck with a striking bow-like detail, which was only complemented by the flowing skirt that swept into a train from its slightly raised hemline at the front.

She accessorized the ensemble quite seamlessly with black satin, double-strap heels accented with red crystals and a complementary red jewelled clutch, both also by Prada, with Fred Leighton jewels finishing off the dynamic, colour-block look.

The style of the dress is beautiful, but I don’t like those two colors together.

    +1

  3. Guest May 21, 2019 at 4:11 pm #

I like the front more than the back.

    Overall, nice look.

  4. Guest May 21, 2019 at 4:11 pm #

I dont care for these colors paired together and something about those double zippers in the back feels very project runway to me. Sadly, I don’t care for this at all.

  5. x-De-x September 25, 2013 at 6:49 pm #

Terrible dress, the halterneck looks badly made and too tight around the bust, the colours of this dress do not go, disgusting shoes and don’t get me started on the back and the zips. This ensemble actually looks cheap.
    Oh Michelle, bad again

  6. Betelgeuze September 25, 2013 at 4:01 pm #

Michelle’s style has been lately bothering me because she seemed to always wear something with high neckline and sleeves, but this. Is. Flawless.
Adore. She’s my best dressed, along with Kaley Cuoco.

  7. msd September 23, 2013 at 4:13 pm #

I love the unusual colour combination, the shoes and the overall shape. I’m not sure it’s working as well from the back, though.

  8. La-Shaun September 23, 2013 at 3:33 pm #

Easily the best dressed of the night.

  9. Ana September 23, 2013 at 2:13 pm #

I’m not a big fan of Prada, but this look is AMAZING!! My favorite of the night!

  10. Jess2 September 23, 2013 at 12:46 pm #

Michelle has gotten it oh so wrong before but this is one of her better looks in my opinion. Very elegant and lovely.

  11. shap_half September 23, 2013 at 11:39 am #

She’s been on a roll. I didn’t really love her style until recently, but this is gorgeous.

  12. Joy September 23, 2013 at 11:07 am #

+1 for Prada! Showing us all that yes, they can make a gorgeous gown. This look was one of the best of the night. I think she brought a lot to the look with the styling that is perfection. Stunning! I can’t get over the red with cranberry combo & how much I LOVE it.

  13. Dorothy September 23, 2013 at 10:33 am #

While I may have some issues with the size of that bow, this still remains as one of the most interesting and beautiful looks from last night.

  14. Stel September 23, 2013 at 10:09 am #

Oh dear God!!! The best dressedof the night! So classy and modern at the same time! <3 her!

  15. Yeliz September 23, 2013 at 9:46 am #

These two colours or not an usual combination, but it works amazingly. My nitpick are those two zippers in the back, it doesn’t really look like a fine work. I also don’t really like that bow detail, but I can overlook that. The front view is much better than the back, but overall she looks stunning. Although I am not completely in love with the gown, I still think that she was one of the best of the night.

  16. Fanny September 23, 2013 at 9:28 am #

    Wow.

  17. amy September 23, 2013 at 9:10 am #

I like it. The colors are perfect, season appropriate and the shape is flattering: WIN

  18. Alex September 23, 2013 at 8:42 am #

Michelle was the biggest surprise for me on this red carpet and in the best way.

She’s one of my favourites of the night. Everything works here and she looks perfectly chic.

  19. Noemi September 23, 2013 at 8:41 am #

This gown is gorgeous, the colors are so interesting and the fastening on the back is a great detail. I wish she did something more interesting with the hair…

  20. kane September 23, 2013 at 7:19 am #

She’s on quite some roll. Over the past few days I must have liked her looks more than all the ones taken together since she hit the red carpet.

      My thoughts exactly.

  21. Loretta September 23, 2013 at 6:11 am #

i like this dress. very unique and funny looking. 😛

  22. Alina September 23, 2013 at 6:00 am #

I can’t get like this look because of the lack of support.

  23. Aline September 23, 2013 at 5:41 am #

    Ugh, why Prada, Michelle, why?

The two zippers makes it look like she’s wearing a mullet skirt over another dress. The bow is pretty terrible, the two colors don’t look good together and the fabric is not to my taste. I’m disappointed.

  24. Molly September 23, 2013 at 5:03 am #

I’m just so glad Michelle is around. Not my favorite of e night but she always has fun and takes risks!

  25. Trish Cohen September 23, 2013 at 3:34 am #

Michelle is always classy. Beautiful dress.

  26. easyBlake September 23, 2013 at 3:33 am #

Lovely. Is she wearing a skirt on top of a separate dress?

  27. Rashmi September 23, 2013 at 3:30 am #

Wow, easily one of the best dressed! The dress looks perfect on her! The two colors might be difficult, but she carries of elegantly!

  28. lakeisha September 23, 2013 at 3:03 am #

    best look of the night

  29. Gail September 23, 2013 at 2:51 am #

    She looks perfect!

  30. Prudence September 23, 2013 at 2:44 am #

the front looks amazing but the back is terrible, it looks like they rushed the finish it and the bow is far too big. Execution is thoroughly lacking and ruined what could have been an amazing look.

  31. Tweed September 23, 2013 at 2:41 am #

Definitely striking! The silhouette usually isn’t the most flattering, but it definitely works for her. The best thing that makes this work is how well it’s styled. It looks simple and clean but has the impact usually attributed to more flamboyant couture pieces.

  32. Lisa September 23, 2013 at 2:29 am #

I hate it and she needs a bra

  33. Janey September 23, 2013 at 2:26 am #

She looks fantastic in the dress, but she definitely should have done something different with her hair. I think something pulled back and a bit messy would have the edginess to complement such an interesting dress.

  34. Eve_V September 23, 2013 at 2:21 am #

In my opinion, it’s the best she’s ever looked. Gorgeous, stunning, absolutely perfect. From the dress, to her hair, makeup and accessories – not a single thing I would change. She is definitely my best dressed of the night.

  35. lakeisha September 23, 2013 at 2:16 am #

    best dressed of the night

  36. EmmaWoodhouse September 23, 2013 at 2:03 am #

This made me smile–it’s so different, and elegant…the bow is whimsical and yet classic, the colors unexpected and vibrant, and her presence inspiring. Styling is perfection…one of the best of the night.

  37. KatieKate September 23, 2013 at 1:59 am #

I love everything about this, except I think I would’ve preferred a different color to complement the red. That said, I still think this will be one of the most memorable and talked about of the night.

  38. Giras September 23, 2013 at 1:55 am #

    Beautiful! My favorite so far!

  39. Mery September 23, 2013 at 1:53 am #

Amazing dress, but those colours do not match.

  40. Kathy September 23, 2013 at 1:47 am #

The dress has a stunning design, and I love the styling, but the two colors don’t pair well together.

  41. Alexandra September 23, 2013 at 1:45 am #

I absolutely adore it, dramatic and yet so efortless! i can’t get my eyes off this look. she pulls it off with such grace and poise. perfect!

  42. H September 23, 2013 at 1:42 am #

Wow, my best of the night!!! Gorgeous

  43. Nat39 September 23, 2013 at 1:41 am #

YES, Love it! Finally something to get excited about. Loving the unexpected colour block drama, the flowing voluminous skirt and the statement oversized bow, her styling is impeccable. This is certainly a standout impactful look.

+4. She looks divine. I love this look head-to-toe and she’s defintely one of the best of the event. She’s on my top 3. An updo would’ve perfected this look even more but that’s something that can be overlooked.

    Beautiful n unexpected

  45. Anne September 23, 2013 at 1:37 am #

No one can wear a big red bow at the back of the neck and not have me compare them to on of my favorite Oscar looks of all time, Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga. That being said, Michelle fairs quite well in this. It’s a definite standout of the night for me

    • julyol1972 September 23, 2013 at 4:31 am #

Pretty! But Nicole did it bigger, better and more memorably.

  46. ash September 23, 2013 at 1:34 am #

Wow, from Lupita Nyong’o to Nicole Kidman and now Michelle Dockery, Mrs. Prada is on a roll lately!

    • Susan N. September 23, 2013 at 1:37 am #

Yes! Prada gowns usually don’t work, but Michelle looks fantastic.

  47. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion Blog) September 23, 2013 at 1:34 am #

I dont care for these colors paired together and something about those double zippers in the back feels very project runway to me. Sadly, I don’t care for this at all.

    • Linda September 23, 2013 at 1:54 am #

I agree about the Project Runway comment. For such an established and expensive brand, it’s puzzling to see some of their gowns on the red carpet looking cheaply or poorly made. The double zippers in the back are not sewn on with an expert hand.

      • Linda September 23, 2013 at 1:55 am #

That said, I do love the fabric and colours.

      • farlis September 23, 2013 at 6:54 am #

That’s because it’s two separates – a top and a skirt not one dress so the double zipper couldn’t be avoided i suppose

  48. Christine September 23, 2013 at 1:33 am #

I like the front more than the back.

    Overall, nice look.
