Hilary Swank continues to give red carpet master classes, this time wearing a Monique Lhuillier Fall 2009 black gown.

The cut-out details some how make the actress look even more slender and taller, and the embellish details prevent this from being a boring black gown.

Oscar buzz will guarantee you one thing - an endless supply of stunning dresses to wear on the red carpet - and that’s exactly what Carey Mulligan has been wearing lately.

The style-icon-in-the-making wore a Prabal Gurung Spring 2010 black beaded chiffon strapless dress with shirttail hem and silk faille bowtie to cinched in her waist.

She teamed her dress with tortoise-shell heels and a chunky gold bracelet.

I’m loving the quiff.

Zooey Deschanel is probably the only person who I feel dresses up with tights, rather than covers up with tights.

We often see her in various colours of tights, but on this occasion she opted for black to match the black trims on her cute Luella Spring 2010 dress.

Her look was paired with Martin Lewis for Luella bow accented heels and a black Chanel bag.

Like the runway model Zooey wears a black bow in her hair, but she opted to wears hers at the back.

There were a lot of black dresses at this event, but Kate Beckinsale’s Michael Kors Resort 2010 dress was made interesting with the asymmetrical neckline and the draped detail on the skirt.

Long gold earrings and a chunky cuff complete the sophisticated look.

Despite Diane Kruger being one of the few not to wear black at this event, I wasn’t crazy about her look.

She kept her look light and feminine wearing a Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2010 white silk dress with a rise and fall hem, but unfortunately the nude heels really let her down.

I loved how this gown billowed on the runway, and although that drama is lost on the red carpet Diane still tried to make it work.

I also preferred how the dress sits above the knee on the model, the length feels a bit awkward on Diane.

Julianne Moore is not afraid of colour, as she wore a beautiful coral dress with voluminous sleeves.

I adore the colour on her.  She can be so breath-taking at times without much effort.

The actress paired her dress with Chanel ankle strap heels, and a black Bottega Veneta Impero satin clutch.

Michelle Monaghan looked stunning in a black strapless dress with a floral embroidered detail on the bodice.

She glows as brightly as her Martin Katz jewels.

Dare I say this, but I’m bored.

Charlize Theron normally blows me away each time she hits the red carpet, but I can only get excited about her red Louboutin’s with a gold toe cap and Bottega Veneta clutch.

Her The Row ensemble is very meh!!!

AnnaLynne McCord provided the sultry glamour I was expecting from Charlize, by posing seductively in a one-shouldered black gown.

Taraji P. Henson is wearing a really nice Rachel Roy dress, but it somehow feels out of place at this event.

I’m also not loving the hair extensions. She worked the shorter style really well.

What’s most tragic is the make-up. Why does she have a layer of white powder under her eyes?

Katherine Jenkins has had a very busy few days.

On Saturday she donned a rubber dress to perform at G-A-Y at the Heaven Nightclub in London.

With her hair swept to one side she was decorated with hundreds of Swarovski crystals on her shoulder and hair.

On Sunday she sang the national anthem at London’s Wembley Stadium for the NFL match between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

She ditched the rubber and this time opted for a more sophisticated look wearing an Alexander McQueen feather print gown.

On Monday the singer arrived in style to promote her new album in Swansea via by helicopter.

She was glowing wearing a white Oscar de la Renta Spring 2009 silk chiffon pleated dress with embroidered details, which she paired with YSL heels.

Katherine really is every woman going from vamp, to sophisticated to a chic lady who lunches.

I was surprised to see her wearing the rubber dress, but it just goes to show she willing to dress for the occasion.

Her Alexander McQueen red & black feather-print gown is available to purchase from Net-A-Porter.com.

Pixie Lott looked adorable wearing a Gucci Fall 2009 black and silver dress, with black feathered detail on the shoulders.

She opted out of the runway belt, which actually works much better for her.

Surprisingly I don’t mind the tights here.

It’s been a very long while since we last saw Corinne Bailey Rae on the red carpet - February 2008 to be precise.

She’s bounced back from her grief to return to the red carpet looking sensational wearing a black and forest green striped Moschino Cheap & Chic Fall 2009 dress with black ankle strapped heels.

I love the dress, but I’m so jealous of her hair.

I wish mine would blow-out like that.

I’m not a Lily Allen fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love the new shag.

I’m going to the hair salon later today, so I may take this picture along for inspirational.

I also like Lily’s simple look in which she wore a long-sleeved ivory beaded dress with black leggings.

She completed her look with YSL sculpted platform pumps.

Sophie Ellis Bextor and her husband Richard Jones walked the red carpet together, as they often do.

Sophie wore a black Dolce & Gabbana velvet and satin dress with voluminous shoulders which we’ve seen on the red carpet before.

She completed her look with Christian Louboutin Eugenie heels and a snake-print clutch.

As always Sophie oozes class and sophistication.

I can deal with Fearne Cotton’s Olivia Rubin embroidered tulip peplum dress, but her leopard print ankle boots are just hideous.

Amy Winehouse attended with her god-daughter Dionne Bromfield.

Amy seemed to be in good spirits showing her new…pink Preen dress.

My…hasn’t she grown since being out of the spotlight.

Penelope Cruz became the first Spanish actress to win an Academy Award when she was handed a best supporting Oscar for her role in the Woody Allen comedy “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.

After the ceremony - where she wore a very bridal vintage Balmain gown - she changed into a white asymmetrical Atelier Versace gown for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in LA.

Still clutching her Oscar she looked stunning, as she kept her look very simple by adding diamond earrings.

Cheryl Cole wore the same white gown on the X Factor on Saturday night.

I wanted to love Cheryl’s look, but I was very put off by her hairstyle so Penelope wins this one for me.

Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival, Florida

Michelle Monaghan was honoured with the “Rising Star on the Horizon Award” at this Festival whilst glowing in a RM by Roland Mouret Traverse wool shift dress.

She paired with black strappy sandals and a gold clutch.

This is such a sophisticated look for the beautiful actress.

Black Eyed Peas Official After Party, LA

Fergie opted for a one-sleeved Gucci Fall 2009 black and silver tunic dress.

She wore her dress with the popular Gucci Division over-the-knee boots which celebrities have fallen in love with.

2009 Environmental Media Awards, LA

Olivia Wilde looks outstanding wearing a Stella McCartney stretch lace panel dress.

I love the way she wore her hair back so we can see all the detail on her stunning dress.

Normally I’m wowed by Katie Cassidy on the red carpet, but not so much on this occasion.

She still looks great in her white and black printed one-sleeved Loeffler Randall dress, but the Guiseppe Zanotti booties don’t work for me.

She completed her look with a Christian Louboutin Loubistuds clutch.

Ginnifer Goodwin wore a very pretty white strapless 1 OAK dress made from recycled materials, which she paired with contrasting accessories including a black ribbon belt, a black clutch and grey Stella McCartney heels for a prim and polished look.

Jet Nightclub At The Mirage, Las Vegas

Whitney Port looked gorgeous in a coral patterned Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 dress with a high neck and ultra short hem. I love the dress, but when is she going to wear something from her own Spring 2010 collection?

The host of this party paired her dress with sparkling Giuseppe Zanotti jeweled sandals.

Evan Rachel Wood seems to be the Gucci girl of the moment.

On this occasion she wore a one shoulder mini Gucci Fall 2009 dress which has already been worn on the red carpet.

Her sparkling dress was covered in green and black striped crystals which she belted as per the runway.

She paired her mini dress with a large black cuff and black multi-strap high-heeled sandals to toughen up her gorgeous look.

Claire Danes is not much of a dare devil on the red carpet, so I’m not surprised she opted for one of the pieces from the Gucci Resort 2010 collection and not the rock chick Fall 2009 collection.

Her stripy lemon and blue dress already has me wishing for summer 2010, but her Gucci triple platform pumps had me wishing she’d picked another pair of heels to go with this summery dress.

Frida Giannini hosted this event, and like Donatella Versace in the previous post, Frida is already sporting her own Spring 2010 collection.

The Creative Director wore a simple black ensemble including skinny pants, and a black blazer with an interesting fringed detail on the shoulders.

Poppy Delevigne wore a silver Gucci Fall 2009 over-sized tunic top paired with black leggings.

This is quite a casual look, but not too casual to make her look like she shouldn’t have walked the red carpet at this event.

Mischa Barton looks good.

She keeps on smiling no matter what life throws at her.

The star worked a black sequined long-sleeved dress with plunging neckline.

Red carpet ankle boots as standard.
