Katy Perry Opens USA v Paraguay World Cup Match In Stella McCartney
Following the Mexico Opening Ceremony, Katy Perry opened the FIFA World Cup match between the USA and Paraguay in Los Angeles, as the United States shares hosting duties with Mexico and Canada.

She performed her 2024 song Wonder alongside a Tius Luka, much to the disappointment of some viewers who were expecting one of her biggest hits, such as Firework. For me, however, this is exactly how you headline a World Cup. You perform a song with a message about friendship and unity and remind people of what really matters.
Katy did so wearing a shimmering Stella McCartney Fall 2026 dress. The silver-fringed design was made for a stadium moment, catching the light from every angle. Some will say that it looks like a lampshade, and I’ll be honest, that isn’t a crazy comparison.
Or leftover Christmas tree icicles from the 1970s and 80s.
Still, the look translated seamlessly from runway to performance stage simply because it’s Katy Perry. She has built a career on embracing extravagant, larger-than-life fashion moments, so a dress like this never feels out of place on her.
I’m struggling to picture who else could make this work quite so convincingly.
