Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Golden Globes Men 1Flexing their sartorial strength, the guys glammed up for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, held last night (January 12) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Here, an overview of the handsome highlights.

Matthew McConaughey: The big victor in the best actor category, the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star was every bit a winner on the red carpet, too. His Dolce & Gabbana three-piece tuxedo featured a surprising emerald-green velvet blazer with contrasting black peak lapels, adding a swoon-worthy twist on the standard. His touch of scruff, meanwhile, was his way of putting a casual-cool spin on this formal entrance. His wife, Camila Alves, also shone rather brightly in a glittery, black Dolce & Gabbana gown that flaunted her enviable curves.

Chris Pine: Rocking the full beard, the actor embraced the classics with an impeccably tailored Ermenegildo Zegna Couture black, peak grosgrain lapel tuxedo, white dress shirt, and black bow tie. He finished the look with Tod’s black patent loafers and a David Yurman gold pinky ring.

Here’s a quick roundup of some of the handsome fellas taking to the red carpet yesterday evening.

Tinie Tempah: The birthday boy attended the Beats by Dre event, which doubled up as his ‘Demonstration’ album launch party in London. Perhaps mindful of the fact that some of you have grown tired of the cropped pants, or perhaps because temperatures are dropping swiftly, he opted to wear regular pants on this occasion. I just love the tan wool blazer. This is yet another dapper Dolce & Gabbana look.

David Beckham: The handsome former footballer joined Kylie Minogue on the red carpet for the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Berlin, Germany looking very dapper in his black suit with a Remembrance Day red poppy proudly pinned to his lapel. “Like no other athlete, David Beckham represents style and fashion influence. With his trendsetting and sometimes daring appearances he has created a bridge between the world of design, models and photographers, and the world of world-class sports, and brought glamour back to a male sport”, said José Redondo-Vega, editor-in-chief of GQ Germany.

Gerard Butler: The Scottish actor attended the Ermenegildo Zegna global store opening hosted by Gildo Zegna and Stefano Pilati in Beverly Hills, California yesterday evening. Looking slick in a blue two-button suit, I love the contrasting black tie and blue shoes. Men so often stick to black.

Best Dressed Of The Week - Miranda Kerr In Wes Gordon, Ruth Wilson In Balenciaga

Even with so many red carpet options this week, Miranda Kerr’s airport-chic Wes Gordon frock was your favourite this week. My pick was the sharp, sleek Balenciaga look presented to us by Ruth Wilson at the eleventh hour on Friday evening.

Best Dressed Of The Week - Zachery Levi in Reiss & Armie Hammer In Ermenegildo Zegna

Zachery Levi in Reiss has always been a winning combination, and you thought so too on this occasion.

I had more trouble selecting this week with so many great choices. In the end I had to go with Armie Hammer in Ermenegildo Zegna for the interesting mix-and-match element, not only colour-wise but also print-wise as the look featured chequers and stripes – not an easy combo to pull off.

Armie Hammer In Ermenegildo Zegna & Johnny Depp In Tom Ford - 'Lone Ranger' Berlin Premiere

Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp joined Ruth Wilson on the red carpet at the Sony Centre in Germany this evening for the Berlin premiere for ‘Lone Ranger’.

Armie Hammer: Stand back, because the Armie is on a roll. His Ferragamo suit was divine, however, I find myself crushing on the Ermenegildo Zegna custom suit he wore this evening. Maybe it because I love that his blue checkered blazer was styled with solid navy pants for an interesting twist; maybe the man just wears every suit he dons so well, or maybe it’s because this suit brings out his baby-blue eyes. Either way, the sleek styling which included a striped shirt, a navy tie with a silver tie pin and brown shoes bags him a late spot on the BDOTW list.

Johnny Depp: The actor, who had a pinstripe fetish for a while, wore a shiny grey Tom Ford three-piece suit with wide lapels which he styled with a sexy silk black shirt and matching pocket square. Opting for a few silver jewels on this occasion; he of course completed his look with signature tinted glasses.

Henry Cavill - ‘Man Of Steel’ Sydney Premiere

Henry Cavill attended the ‘Man Of Steel’ premiere in Sydney, Australia on Monday evening.

The British stud smouldered on the red carpet wearing a sharp three-piece Ermenegildo Zegna pinstriped navy suit.

While this is the best fit yet, and I love the splash of colour via the tie, I would love for him to ditch the waistcoat.

Once again, it feels like one layer too many.

‘The Great Gatsby’ Sydney Premiere Menswear Round Up

‘The Great Gatsby’ stars Joel Edgerton and Tobey Maguire were on the carpet for their film’s Australia premiere in Sydney on Wednesday.

Joel Edgerton: Even when half his outfit is drenched, Joel makes it look good. He wore an Ermenegildo Zegna grey two-button notch-lapel jacket along with a pair of grey trousers. The light grey was a suitable colour and it looked good with the brown shoes and purple tie.

Tobey Maguire: Keeping his slim silhouette, Tobey opted for a well-cut Saint Laurent navy gabardine suit. It fit well, though the pants bunched up a bit by the ankles. He kept the look subtle with a white Dylan-collar shirt and a black silk tie.

Both actors kept their looks simple. I liked Joel’s because of the shoes and the coloured tie, however, Tobey’s gabardine suit was able to withstand the downpour.
