Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here’s a look at what the men have been serving up on the red carpet of late.

Josh Duhamel: At the China premiere for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ on Tuesday (June 13), Josh let fellow attendees Isabela Moner and Laura Haddock take top fashion billing. His neutral suit by The Kooples wasn’t quite so memorable, and I wish the creased fit had presented better.

Jaime Foxx: Jamie joined Lily James at the ‘Baby Driver’ LA premiere on Wednesday (June 14), where his polka-dot suit was the right mix of suave, spirited and sophisticated. It’s always nice to see something outside the standard suiting work so well on the red carpet.

Tom Holland: At a Madrid photocall for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ with Zendaya on Wednesday (June 14), Tom kept his style to off-duty superhero vibes in a casual and cool ensemble from The Kooples paired with a Miansai dove pendant necklace. While the slouchy denim and high-top sneakers can be a hard sell, he pulls it off here.

‘Rough Night’ New York Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

Between Scarlett Johansson’s silver glitz, Demi Moore’s pastel plisse, and Zoe Kravitz’s red-haute jumpsuit, the dress code was an eclectic one at the ‘Rough Night’ premiere in New York on Monday (June 12). A few additional stars contributed more variety to the mix, too.

Jillian Bell: Channeling girly frill, Jillian wore a Marchesa Notte Pre-Fall 2017 floral-festooned frock that had a distinct sugary flavour. The silver metallic shoes were perhaps selected to add some edge but they didn’t exactly fit in.

Ty Burrell: Keeping it simple in a khaki-hued suit, Ty dressed for summer in an Ermenegildo Zegna Couture ensemble finished with the darker punch of a chocolate-brown tie and dress shoes.

Ilana Glazer: In theory, I appreciate Ilana’s bold approach with this Lanvin Spring 2017 look. But, in execution, it fell short with the deep plunge hitting at an awkward point and the creased pants falling a bit long.

Did you like any of these looks, or was it a rough fashion night for you?

2017 Tony Awards Menswear Roundup

The men were not to be left backstage with their red-carpet looks at the 2017 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 11) in New York City.

Ben Platt: The young Broadway actor showed off a perfectly tailored fit in a bespoke David Hart suit that featured a rich navy colour with contrasting black lapels.

Jordan Roth: The Broadway mogul flaunted his theatrical side in a rock-star-red Gucci Resort 2017 slim-line suit complete with the embellished roaring tiger motif at the back. This was the performance piece of the night—at least on the sartorial stage.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear starts to get interesting around this time of year as guys look for alternatives to the traditional black and navy as we move into the new season.

Dwyane Wade: The baller joined wife Gabrielle Union for the CFDA Fashion Awards wearing a Gucci Cruise 2017 black, red and green jacquard Heritage suit which looked very fly within  itself, but it’s the black velvet necklace with multicolored glass crystals and pearls, yellow socks and black leather monkstrap Gucci loafers which take this look to another level. It’s not often we see men elevate a outfit from the lookbook.

Joel Edgerton: Joining Riley Keough at the ‘It Comes At Night’ New York premiere the actor relaxed approach to tailored style came in the form of this Ermenegildo Zegna shades of burgundy, which was the epitome of smart-casual chic.

Rami Malek: The actor had the same approach for the ‘Mr. Robot’ Season 3 premiere event decked out in Burberry with Tod’s sneakers. Sometimes sneakers with a smart look can feel a bit try-hard – see Orlando Bloom – but they totally fit the relaxed mood of this look.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men have been making the rounds over the past few days, with the 2017 CFDA Fashion Awards, premieres, and more all providing reason for them to hit the red carpet.

Matt Bomer: An army-green suit is not one we see on the daily. So, this Todd Snyder ensemble at the CFDA Fashion Awards really caught my eye—especially with the contrasting, tuxedo racing stripes down the side. It was a clever juxtaposition of formal-wear with a sportier vibe in the cropped pants and socks-less loafers. But, I do wish the pants had been pressed.

Tom Cruise: Tom joined Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis for the premiere of ‘The Mummy’ in Mexico City, where he wore an Ermenegildo Zegna Made to Measure three-piece suit. Sure, he looked handsome. But, with a Made to Measure suit, I would have expected a more precise, polished fit as the fabric seemed to crease and pull at various places here.

Donald Glover: Donald was at the Atlanta For Your Consideration screening in New York City, where he wore a Gucci ‘Donald Duck’ cardigan for our consideration. I actually found myself liking the playful, cartoonish spirit. I would have opted for black pants or denim jeans as opposed to these dark navy trousers as they seemed to be the odd man out.

A few men have been making the rounds to support their respective films. Here’s a look at what they wore.

Charlie Hunnam: Charlie joined the ladies at the LA premiere of ‘King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword’ was held on Monday (May 8). Looking sharp as usual, he kept it simple and straightforward in a traditional Prada suit with Christian Louboutin ‘So Charles’ brogues.

Michael Fassbender: At the ‘Alien Covenant’ movie presentation in Madrid on Monday (May 8), Michael went low-key handsome in a top-to-toe Brioni ensemble that subbed in a short-sleeve sweater for a dress shirt and sport coat. It was a nice change of pace.

Djimon Hounsou: Also at the LA premiere of ‘King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword’ Djimon impressed in his Ermenegildo Zegna blue-gray suit that he uniquely personalized with a patterned tie and pocket square as well as spike-embellished suede shoes.
