Emmy Rossum In Donna Karan Atelier – 2013 Met Gala

Emmy Rossum In Donna Karan Atelier - 2013 Met Gala When Emmy Rossum arrived on the 2013 Met Gala red carpet in New York City, I have to say I barely recognized her.

The actress fully embraced her inner punk princess with a Donna Karan Atelier gown—and a bold beauty look to go with it.

The sheer, diaphanous dress trended more on the pretty side. After all, it still had beads, sequins and paillettes, as opposed to pins, spikes and studs.

Far more aggressive was her messy braided faux-hawk and a super-shadowed, exaggerated smokey eye.

Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and Iritdesign jewels, including a collection of knuckle rings and neck-grazing statement earrings, completed Emmy’s rebellious entrance.

She was one of my favourites of the night for the combining the punk with the couture.

Emmy always has amazing style-she looks like a dangerous beauty-very ethereal

  3. Cris May 7, 2013 at 19:47 #

punky or not, she did look amazing.

  4. robbie May 7, 2013 at 17:53 #

beautiful and possibly the first and only donna karan atelier gown i can truthfully say i adore!

  5. Moxie May 7, 2013 at 15:50 #

Love the punk princess look. One of the best dressed of the night.

One of the best of the night for sure!

  8. Alicat May 7, 2013 at 12:08 #

This gown is almost ethereal. The delicate detailing on the back is most interesting and beautiful.. Nothing to do with punk though. Her hair and makeup are more on theme. She does look beautiful.

The makeup and the hair are what makes this outfit interesting because the dress itself isn’t that great or original. The back looks too much like Dobrev met ball dress. She looks good though

Hands down my favourite from the night (which I totally rate as one of the most underwhelming/worst dressed events ever). I’m a huge fan of Emmy’s style and wish she would rock hair and make up like this more often!

  11. Kat May 7, 2013 at 09:42 #

I love that she manages to follow the theme, but stays true to her own style. The dress is punky in a very feminine way. That said, that makeup makes her unrecognizable! Wow!

  12. Helena May 7, 2013 at 09:36 #

Definitely Punk Princess! I really think the look works quite well with the theme. While it’s not really in my personal taste, I think that’s kind of irrelevant. The Met Gala is supposed to be out there fashion wise, especially when the theme is Punk, so I’m not really surprised that a lot of people are a little adamant about the looks on parade tonight (ie. January Jones). But honestly, I say the crazier the better. And this is definitely crazy good.

only thing i like about this is the back… thats pretty cool! and the earrings, but overall u dont pass.

  14. Charlotte May 7, 2013 at 08:53 #

I love it ! This dress is beautiful and perfect for her. And the make up and the hair are so beautiful, she is stunning !

  15. the ogre May 7, 2013 at 06:58 #

ok lets just hand it to her. i mean she can do no wrong in my book. no wrong! she is scintillating here. i love this look from head to toe!

  16. jas May 7, 2013 at 05:55 #

love the makeup and hair, but the dress is a bit meh in my opinion

  17. Kate May 7, 2013 at 05:28 #

Princess meets punk is a great way to put it.

    • Kate May 7, 2013 at 05:30 #

And I love that she stepped outside of her comfort zone without ending up completely costumey or ridiculous (cough, Lily Collins and Elle Fanning)

  18. Lyo May 7, 2013 at 04:17 #

I’m sorry, but this is a schizophrenic look. Her make-up says punk, her hair says trying to hard to be punk, and her dress and shoes says fairytale princess…Like the back, but not the rest.

  19. AG May 7, 2013 at 04:13 #

Stunning dress! And as crazy as the hair is I suppose it’s appropriate in that it’s an attempt to give the look the punk edge

  20. asherlev1 May 7, 2013 at 04:07 #

BDOTW NOMINEEE. I don’t see how this isn’t hers for the taking.

  21. kane May 7, 2013 at 03:57 #

This is not Emmy Rossum! I even googled her to check if I wasn’t temporarily confusing her with somebody else. Wow, what a transformation! She’s proven that she’s got style but this one is jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

  22. Nat May 7, 2013 at 03:56 #

    perfection. best dressed imo.

  23. Nat39 May 7, 2013 at 03:50 #

This is a rare occasion when a more ‘agressive’ hair and makeup offset the softness of the gown properly imo. instead of feeling way out of place, I think it’s executed well even though I’m not a big fan of it.

  24. Aline May 7, 2013 at 03:45 #

I love Emmy and this gown is beyond gorgeous. It could’ve easily been one of my favs, but the Medusa hair ruins it for me.

  25. EmmaWoodhouse May 7, 2013 at 03:38 #

The front is too lowcut for my taste, but overall I love the look–the punk warrior princess with a soft fairylike side–the back is so delicate and beautiful! I love her hair and makeup.

    • EmmaWoodhouse May 7, 2013 at 03:39 #

      P.S. I just realized it had a sheer skirt–not a trend I admire. Line it! 🙂

  26. justme May 7, 2013 at 03:37 #

I don’t know how I feel about this yet but the back view shot is breathtaking.

  27. Poppy May 7, 2013 at 03:37 #

I think the dress is lovely, particular the back detail. However, I don’t feel there is a connection between the hair/make-up and the dress.

  28. Yeliz May 7, 2013 at 03:35 #

Love this beautiful gown and her hair works greatly with this look, but personally I don’t really like it.

  29. Prudence May 7, 2013 at 03:34 #

I love the princess meets punk appeal of it, of course I want more punk but for someone like her this is already pretty major.

  30. Christine May 7, 2013 at 03:32 #

Gorgeous from head to toe. Love her hair!

I’m totally obsessed! We can always rely on Emmy to bring it!

      • Francois Bresmal May 8, 2013 at 08:51 #

TO-TAL-LY! For me, she’s the one who combined punk and couture in the best way! Because at first, when you see the dress, you say pretty but then in the closups you realise that the beaded tulle is like torn away, not to mention the destroyed back! And of course the makeup and hair. THE BEST BEST BEST
