Julianne Hough In Georges Hobeika Couture – 2012 Emmy Awards

Julianne Hough attended the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday evening.

The blonde actress opted for sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles, wearing a strapless seafoam Georges Hobeika Fall 2012 Couture gown.

With the amount of sequins and paillette embellishments, I envision this frock on the ‘Dancing With The Stars’ dance floor.

That comb-over faux-bob is just a bit too much for this look, as is the makeup.

Soft Veronica Lake waves would have added a bit more polish to the look.

A gold Judith Leiber clutch provided the finishing touches.

I think she is too tanned but other than that I think she looks good.

  2. roxana September 25, 2012 at 06:33 #

my favourite dress of the evening. shame about the make-up

  3. zoe September 25, 2012 at 03:14 #

julianne hough looks absolutely AMAZING. this dress is a work of art and almost exactly matches her eyes. this for me is a bdoty look. i hope fashion critic thinks highly of this look!

  4. Dan Oliver September 24, 2012 at 22:52 #

Love the dress but hair and make up is not good very prom like

  5. Aline September 24, 2012 at 21:54 #

When I was watching her interview on E! I didn’t care about the look, it didn’t translate well on TV. But when I saw the pictures I was surprised it was the same dress because I really loved it.

I still don’t like the hair, though.

Worst of the night tied with Ashley Judd. This screams Vegas showgirl. Cheap tacky Dancing With The Stars costume. Haven’t seen Georges Hobieka in forever, this is the worst comeback.

  7. Natalie19 September 24, 2012 at 19:34 #

I will agree with majority: absolutely LOVE the dress!!! (btw, seriously cannot understand how it can possibly look cheap to someone)…

but! the hair! the makeup!!! Horror

  8. ash September 24, 2012 at 19:04 #

She made the dress look cheap, I’d never thought it was Haute Couture. maybe it’s the tanned skin?

  9. Abby September 24, 2012 at 19:00 #

This was the 1st time I’ve liked what Julianne Hough was wearing on the red carpet. I think she looks age appropriate and stunning. On camera Julianne appeared a lot less ‘orange’ than in photos.

  10. Mildred Brignoni September 24, 2012 at 16:56 #

She killed it, and better than the runway. Did Couture proud!!

  11. goldfish September 24, 2012 at 15:41 #

very ugly dress- and too orange tan.. the hair looks weird- she is the worst dressed of the emmy awards imo

  12. Joy September 24, 2012 at 15:22 #

I really want to like this look, but for me she looks literally like a fish out of water. I think it is the color of the gown together with her hair and makeup choice. Too bad because I think it could have gone better for her.

  13. andrea September 24, 2012 at 15:01 #

This dress is gorgeous, but the styling really lets her down.

  14. Jones19 September 24, 2012 at 14:57 #

The gown is gorgeous but I just despise that hair! She should have listened to Ryan Seacrest.

  15. Amy September 24, 2012 at 14:27 #

The dress is amazing but combined with her tan, hairdo and the heavy makeup it results in a showgirl outfit.Too bad!

  16. Christine September 24, 2012 at 14:13 #

Love the dress but the makeup and hair is awful.

  17. Noemi September 24, 2012 at 14:07 #

I think she’s too tanned to pull off the color of the dress, the result is that she looks a bit tacky.

  18. Nat September 24, 2012 at 13:48 #

This looks like Miss America meets Prom Queen meets couture. And the result is that everything looks really cheap.

    • CreoleLady September 24, 2012 at 14:11 #

Agree. I attribute it to the ballroom dancing makeup/tan/glitz/OTT syndrome that she occasionally falls back into, to her detriment, on the RC.

  19. EmmaWoodhouse September 24, 2012 at 13:46 #

Meh…the gown is too shiny/glitzy and I hate that bodice. With the styling is SOOO costumey.

  20. Ade September 24, 2012 at 13:13 #

It’s a beautiful dress but everything else is just not working.

  21. MEME September 24, 2012 at 12:59 #

I don’t care for the hair and makeup…. but I am in LUH-UH-UUUUUH-VVVVVE!!!!!!!!!! with this dress…. seeing a paillette dress in person I bet it shined on the red carpet…. but I don’t think she has the attitude for it…. Sophia Vergara would’ve rocked the hell out of this…

  22. Hannah September 24, 2012 at 12:48 #

I think that she looks gorgeous, the dress is perfection on her, but with the hair and amount of amkeupit makes it all a bit too much and a bit too old.

  23. TeaAtTwo September 24, 2012 at 12:35 #

What looks pretty on the runway looks a bit cheesy on the carpet. Too tanned, too much make up, too detailed a hairstyle.

  24. Megs222 September 24, 2012 at 12:13 #

Why does this young beautiful woman insist on wearing such aging looks?

  25. Andreea September 24, 2012 at 11:46 #

    I don’t hate it,but i cannot say that i like it either.

    • tiffany September 24, 2012 at 22:08 #

+1 not feeling the eyelids over the boobs.

  26. Dan September 24, 2012 at 11:33 #

Julianne Hough and Sofia Vergara really were the stars of the Emmy Awards 2012, they had the best outfits, and what’s most interesting that they both wore Lebanese designers: Georges Hobeika and Zuhari Mrad respectively… Lebanese designers are Masters in showing and emphasizing the femininity of a Woman

    • Nat39 September 24, 2012 at 18:26 #

Funny, they both looked like they belonged on “Dancing with the stars” to me 🙂 both overdid it

    • Hannah September 25, 2012 at 00:47 #

All the best couturiers are Lebanese : Elie Saab, Abed Mahfouz, Georges Chakra, Basil Soda, Reem Acra, Tony Ward, Rabih Kayrouz. They all have a comparable aesthetic, too.

      • Duncan O'Shea December 25, 2012 at 03:32 #

You’re so right. Best things to come out of that country are the designers and food. Oh, and their women are hot too 😉

  27. Marty September 24, 2012 at 11:30 #

I think she looks great! There was a lot of sparkle on the RC last night 🙂

  28. Kim September 24, 2012 at 11:09 #

I like the dress, and she is werking it but she needs to chill out with that self tanner, really ruins the whole look

    • chryssa September 24, 2012 at 15:30 #

      i couldn’t agree more…this dress needed a paler complexion.

  29. Yeliz September 24, 2012 at 10:49 #

The gown fits her perfectly, but there is too much sparkle for my liking. And I agree about the make-up and hair.

  30. DorianGray September 24, 2012 at 10:27 #

I really like these looks but what kind of red carpet is without at least one Elie Saab and Atelier Versace? 🙁

    • Fashion Critic September 24, 2012 at 10:32 #

One with more TV actresses than movie stars

      • DorianGray September 24, 2012 at 10:47 #

        You’re so right FC.
I found out that Lucy Liu wore Versace (not Atelier but better than nothing). I missed Elie Saab and Valentino.

      • Rash September 24, 2012 at 11:07 #

        Exactly !

    • Alina September 24, 2012 at 12:07 #

I think Lucy Liu wore Versace.

Julianne looks stunning! Like a mermaid, as Kimmy said.

  31. Jess2 September 24, 2012 at 10:24 #

I agree about the hair and makeup FC! Much too ott!

  32. Kimmy September 24, 2012 at 10:24 #

    Mesmerizing like a mermaid.
