Demi Moore may have dominated many of the headlines this festival, but Ruth Negga has delivered with the same level of consistency, which is exactly what you want from jury members who spend the most time on the red carpet throughout Cannes.

On this occasion, she wore a custom Prada halter-neck gown in metallic midnight-blue satin, and while the front offered a sleek, almost liquid simplicity, the back transformed the look into something far more dramatic.

The peplum, densely embroidered with crystals and glass beading, created a sculptural burst of texture before unfurling into a sweeping sheer train scattered with degradé crystal and sequined embellishment. Against the red carpet, the train almost looked like a midnight sky trailing behind her, adding scale to what could have otherwise been a relatively minimal column silhouette.

The wet-look finish of the satin paired beautifully with her softly sculpted wet-look curls, while the open back ensured the embellished train remained the undisputed focal point. This is exactly the kind of detail that elevates a Cannes gown from simply beautiful to memorable.
