Lily Allen In Coach – The BRIT Awards 2019

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Lily Allen In Coach - The BRIT Awards 2019

Lily Allen surprised me in more ways than one on the red carpet for The Brit Awards 2019 in London on Wednesday (February 20).

Firstly, I expected a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld following his passing on Tuesday.

Secondly, I wasn’t expecting this change of pace.

From the hair to the embellished lace dress by Coach, Lily was totally unrecognisable.

Some might brand this Addams Family style or a homage to Wednesday Adams specifically, but love that she has this in her locker.

Fashion is the perfect way to reinvent yourself, so perhaps this is a start of a new beginning for Lily.

Madison Beer was sure to be noticed at The BRIT Awards 2019 in London on Wednesday (February 20).

If you’re having a case of déjà vu, that’s because Ralph & Russo appear to have made this style of dress there go-to for those who seek to garner attention, as both Bella Hadid and Alessandra Ambrosio have worn version of this look.

I did love it when Bella Hadid boldly wore her look during Cannes, but by this point I’m like, “thank you, next.”

Jorja Smith In 16Arlington – The BRIT Awards 2019

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Jorja Smith In 16Arlington - The BRIT Awards 2019

Jorja Smith was named best female solo artist at The Brit Awards 2019 in London on Wednesday (February 20).

Her win came just three years after she received the Critics Choice Award and has continued her meteoric rise.

On the night she wore two 16Arlington dress.

Red Carpet: The brand is known for its use of decadent details like sequins, crystals and feathers to create feel-good clothing as demonstrated in this mini, but I’m not crazy about the trapeze silhouette on Jorja. I think she has an amazing figure, so I’m not entirely sure this isn’t doing much for her. Jimmy Choo ‘Tamai’ pumps and David Morris jewels completed her look.

Performance: While this glittering white 16Arlington gown feels more like a red carpet look, the dress was perfectly suited to her melodic performance version of ‘Don’t Watch Me Cry.’ Backed only by a piano, Jorja commanded the arena with her smooth vocals.

2019 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features 2019 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Stars put on their finest for the 2019 Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday (February 19) in Beverly Hills, California. They joined Danai Gurira and Halle Berry.

Sarah Paulson: After the passing of Karl Lagerfeld, the actress wore one of his early works. The twisting black chenille cord over the silk lurex fabric of her vintage Chanel Demi-Couture strikes a balance of being au courant yet characteristically 1980s.

Sonequa Martin-Green: The ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ actress took a risk in whimsical Simone Rocha Spring 2019. Some might wish for the sheer cape to go, but without it the look would just be a strapless tent dress.

Christina Hendricks: It’s interesting to see the modifications made between her look and the Tadashi Shoji Spring 2018 runway version. The whimsy is tempered slightly but the brilliant blue base remains to enliven the galactic embroidery.

Vanity Fair And L’Oréal Paris Celebrate New Hollywood

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features Vanity Fair And L'Oréal Paris Celebrate New Hollywood

Lovely ladies joined Vanity Fair and L’Oréal Paris to celebrate New Hollywood on Tuesday (February 19) in Los Angeles, California.

Nina Dobrev: The ‘Fam’ actress heightened the angelic mood of her flowing Loewe Spring 2019 dress with silver accessories. The embellishment adds fantastic dimension and a subtle edge.

Yalitza Aparicio: The ‘Roma’ actress was another one who fell for the charms of frills in The Vampire’s Wife. Some are tired of the silhouette, but it does have a prim elegance. I just wish the colour was more saturated for her.

Amandla Stenberg: She cut a sharp shape in Louis Vuitton Spring 2019. The graphic T-shirt and sleek lines of the suit give it a modern finish even with the supersized lapels.

EMILY’s List 2nd Annual Pre-Oscars Event

The Oscars celebrations have gotten underway with celebrities stepping out at EMILY’s List 2nd Annual Pre-Oscars event on Tuesday (February 19) in Los Angeles, California.

Olivia Munn: The classic windowpane check of her Rebecca Vallance Resort 2019 ensemble was given a fashionable update with the flared trousers and cropped top. The slightest tweaking of the proportions would have led to a sharper finish.

Minka Kelly: The actress brought together unexpected muted tones with her Ports coat, Peggy Hartanto top and trousers, Le Silia boots and Black Sea clutch. It’s a standout combination and it has a unified 1970s air without looking dated.
