Rihanna Wore Chanel Haute Couture To The ‘Smurf’ Brussels Premiere

It was a whirlwind weekend for Rihanna, who jetted from Paris—where she supported A$AP Rocky at his AWGE Spring 2026 show—to Brussels for the world premiere of the animated film Smurfs, in which she voices none other than Smurfette. Casting her in this role feels like a no-brainer: who better to bring sass and heart to the iconic blue heroine?

Given the family-friendly nature of this animated feature, it was lovely to see Rihanna explore her softer side. If you caught her Paris looks this weekend, you’ll know she was in her usual risk-taking element, but this Chanel moment in Brussels marked a delightful pivot toward romance.

Wearing a custom Chanel Haute Couture ensemble inspired by look 39 from the Spring 2003 Haute Couture collection, Rihanna brought dreamy elegance to the blue carpet. The crystal-embroidered top and skirt were adorned with porcelain sequins, feathers, tone-on-tone organza, a feather camellia, and Chanel jewelled buttons.

Kate Hudson wore the original version – also as a maternity look – back in 2003 for the Venice Film Festival premiere of ‘Le Divorce.’

While Chanel officially described the hue as celadon green, this registered far more on the blue spectrum to the eye—which couldn’t have been more fitting for a Smurfette debut. It served up just the right nod to the character without tipping into costume territory.

What made this moment even more special was the rare, ethereal beauty direction. A softly styled updo and neutral-toned makeup gave Rihanna an almost fairy-tale glow. She looked radiant, refined, and refreshingly stripped-back.
