Rebecca Hall and Morgan Spector Find Their ‘Gilded Age’ Inspiration in Margiela

Rebecca Hall joined Carrie Coon on the red carpet for the Season 4 premiere of HBO’s The Gilded Age in New York City last night, alongside her husband, Morgan Spector, who plays George Russell in the series.

Both opted for Maison Margiela Fall 2026, with looks that felt particularly appropriate for the period drama.

The Art of Draping

Rebecca Hall wore a Maison Margiela Fall 2026 dress that brought together two contrasting fabrics: richly patterned tapestry and fluid black satin.

Like Carrie’s look, this was a tale of two fabrics, but I much prefer the execution here. The tapestry is cut and appliquéd onto the satin drapery, allowing the fabric to fall beautifully. I love how the ornate textile references the period aesthetic of The Gilded Age without making Rebecca look as though she’s borrowed something from the costume department.

Black Maison Margiela Tabi Plexi pumps completed her look.

An Edwardian Reference

Morgan Spector also wore Maison Margiela Fall 2026, choosing a Bianchetto-painted suit featuring an Edwardian-style tailcoat, paired with a fluid Bianchetto shirt and the label’s Float shoes.

The Edwardian reference makes this a particularly fitting choice for The Gilded Age, but what interests me most is the fabric. The Bianchetto paint treatment gives the tailoring an aged, almost weathered appearance, which is an interesting contrast to the formal silhouette. It’s a clever way of acknowledging the period setting while keeping the look distinctly Margiela.

Even those of you who aren’t fans of thematic dressing will surely admit that Rebecca and Morgan have delivered two perfect examples of how to reference a series through fashion.
