Emma D’Arcy Will Make You Look Twice at Jil Sander’s Tailoring
Emma D’Arcy made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, where they talked about making a DIY wig for their House of the Dragon audition, learning High Valyrian with Matt Smith and having only 30 minutes to learn their lines for Digger.

I talk a lot about Emma having a unique point of view when it comes to tailoring, and you might be wondering what is so unusual about this Jil Sander Spring 2027 suit.
At first glance, it looks like the jacket has been caught in the wind.

Look again, and you realise that the asymmetry is built into the construction, with the front twisted and buttoned to pull the traditional suit jacket out of shape. You get an even better sense of the technique when Emma is standing still in the studio.
This is what makes Simone Bellotti’s tailoring so interesting. He hasn’t reinvented the suit; he has taken something incredibly familiar and shifted the construction just enough to make you look twice.
And Emma was exactly the right person for it. Their tailoring choices are rarely about simply wearing a great suit; there is usually something in the cut, proportion or construction that sets it apart.

Presented only a little over a week ago, this look couldn’t have found a better wearer.
