Prada’s Front Row Has Something for Everyone
Prada’s Spring/Summer 2027 womenswear show was held inside the Deposito at Fondazione Prada in Milan this week, with plenty of familiar faces taking their seats on the front row.
It’s a Family Affair
Uma Thurman has been a long-time devotee of Prada, and Maya Hawke has followed in her mother’s footsteps, regularly turning to the Italian house for the red carpet. Seeing them together on the front row was a sweet mother-daughter moment. Maya usually embraces Prada’s quirkier side, but this was a surprisingly conventional moment from her.
The New Office Dress Code
Camila Mendes and Emilia Clarke tapped into Prada’s unconventional approach to office dressing. I’m much more drawn to Camila here; the proportions and styling make her look feel more convincing, while Emilia’s interpretation isn’t quite landing for me.
Ladies In Black
Hunter Schafer and Gabrielle Union both arrived in black Prada, but with completely different results. This is the most understated I have seen Hunter, and I am enjoying the change of pace, while Gabrielle’s shorter proportions and knee-high boots give her look a distinctly ’60s feel.
White Dress, Wrong Accessories
Molly Gordon and Sadie Sink had me until I reached the accessories. In Molly’s case, both the bag and shoes are working against the simplicity of the dress, while Sadie’s footwear feels equally out of sync. I like both white Prada dresses, but the accessories needed a lighter touch.
Prada Prints
Print gave Benedetta Porcaroli and Michelle Williams two completely different Prada moments. Benedetta was surprisingly restrained considering her Prada history, while Michelle will always gravitate towards the most delicately feminine option.
Crop It Like It’s Hot
The exposed midriff connected Naomi Ackie and Nara Smith, but Naomi’s colour combination immediately wins me over.
Trousers: A Short Story
Lee Do-hyun and Li Xian both got the cropped-trouser memo. Li’s striped knit is doing it for me here, especially because menswear front rows can so easily become a sea of neutral tailoring.
Skirts With Something Extra
The skirt has long been part of Prada’s vocabulary, from pleats and prints to embellishment and unexpected fabric combinations. While I wasn’t sold on Alexa Chung’s take, Naomi Watts’ graphic skirt felt much more in keeping with the familiar house style.
Suit Up
Dwyane Wade and Jaehyun represented two sides of Prada tailoring. Dwyane went classic, while Jaehyun took the less conventional route. The burgundy beanie is the detail that changes the entire mood of his look.
