Anna Wintour Leads a Floral Fashion Moment at the US Open
Bee Carrozzini, Anna Wintour and Elizabeth Cordry Shaffer attended the US Open exhibition match event, ‘Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York,’ on Tuesday, and apparently florals were the unofficial dress code. All three arrived in different interpretations of the print, giving us an unexpectedly cohesive fashion moment.

Romantic Gucci
Bee Carrozzini wore a pleated floral Gucci Fall 2015 dress by Alessandro Michele showcasing the more romantic side of the label pre-Demna. The deep red base and watercolour-style blooms made this an easy choice for a late-summer tennis event, with gold Manolo Blahnik Susa metallic leather sandals completing the look.
Florals For Federer
If there is tennis involved, of course Anna Wintour is in attendance. The former Vogue editor and Prada enthusiast wore a stunning Prada Spring 2021 floral coat over what appears to be a beautifully simple beige ankle-length shirt dress.
We talk a lot about Anna and her preference for Manolo Blahnik sandals, and on this occasion, I wish she had worn them because those shiny leather boots are not working for me. They feel too heavy for the rest of the look, particularly alongside such a light floral print.
Erdem Was Inevitable
Anna’s daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Cordry Shaffer, also went the floral route, wearing Erdem, a label famed for its florals. Her green dress was styled with white loafers, which were much more agreeable footwear not only for the look, but also for the season and event.
If they were a girl band, I would thoroughly approve of this coordinated floral effort. As it stands, I approve anyway – sans Anna’s footwear.
