Teyana Taylor Fronts Alaïa’s Summer Fall 2026 Campaign

Teyana Taylor’s style run this year has been unmatched, so seeing it rewarded with the Alaïa Summer Fall 2026 campaign is fitting.

Teyana Taylor wears a long black Alaïa knit dress with sheer pumps for the Summer Fall 2026 campaign.

Photographed by David Sims in Paris, the black-and-white campaign puts Teyana’s physicality at the centre of the house’s body-conscious design language.

This isn’t a new relationship. Teyana has already worn Alaïa for two notable appearances this year: Variety’s Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch, followed by the New York screening of Straw. So seeing that relationship develop into a campaign feels like a natural progression.

There is also something particularly well suited to Teyana in the way Pieter Mulier approaches the female form. The second-skin dresses, anatomical cut-outs and exaggerated curves require someone who can do more than simply wear them. As a dancer and performer, Teyana understands exactly what her body can do in clothes, and Sims makes full use of that.

The opening white jersey gown is perhaps the clearest example. Its high neck, long sleeves and close fit are relatively simple until you reach the dramatic curved cut-outs at the hips. On Teyana, the silhouette becomes almost graphic, particularly in black and white.

But the metallic mini is easily my favourite. The fitted tank shape is covered in metal embellishments, allowing the surface of the dress to take centre stage while Teyana supplies all the attitude it needs.

The wet-look bob, styled by Rio Sreedharan, and makeup by Yadim Carranza suit the stark photography, while her poses give each silhouette a different character.

There is history behind the casting, too. Azzedine Alaïa had close relationships with performers including Grace Jones and Tina Turner, creating costumes for Grace Jones in A View to a Kill and stage looks for Tina Turner. Teyana, whose own career spans music, dance and acting, feels like a natural continuation of that history.

And after the 18 months she’s had fashion-wise, this campaign feels earned. Teyana has consistently shown that she can handle demanding silhouettes, archive fashion and major red carpet moments without losing her own identity. After those Alaïa appearances earlier this year, becoming the face of the house feels like the next stage of a relationship that was already taking shape on the red carpet.

“As someone who’s loved Alaïa for a long time, being part of this campaign felt really special,” Teyana said. “The collection pulled me in right away. It’s bold, it’s feminine, but there’s a strength to it that I really connect with.”
