Or the cocoon-like Dolce & Gabbana opera coat she wore to the 2023 Grammy Awards? Those playful, conversation-starting looks have given way to something less gimmicky.

Lizzo wore a bronzed shimmering Christian Cowan gown inspired by the designer’s Spring 2026 collection, embracing the fluid draping and body-skimming silhouette that has become one of the collection’s signatures.
If you’re experiencing a mild case of déjà vu, that’s because Sydney Sweeney wore this design to Variety’s 2025 Power of Women event.
That outing immediately went viral, largely because the styling created the illusion of a wet T-shirt. It was clearly designed to provoke conversation. Lizzo could easily have followed the same blueprint, especially with a new album to promote, but she wisely resisted.
By opting for tonal underpinnings and letting the bronze shimmer do the work, the focus shifted back to the craftsmanship of the gown. The draping and sculptural lines became the talking points instead of her nipples.
It’s a reminder that the same dress can tell two completely different stories.
